Hi all,

So I get a mail this morning from MWEB, apparently I'm putting strain on their network:

You have used 123.07 GB so far this month.
Last Session: 29 January, 2015, 00:54:47
Connection status: Throttled
Your total usage for the past 30 days: 123.05 GB

Anyone in the same situation? Will I resume normal speed at start of February?

Currently on 4 Mbps, is it worth it to upgrade to 4Mbps Premium for R320 more?

The throttle period is a rolling 30 days. IE: once per day mweb looks at your download usage for the last 30 days. On 4meg standard, I believe the throttle threshold is around 110gb. Once you fall below the threshold again, you will be un-throttled. This is also checked once per day. You can check your account usage by logging into your account on men's site.

What's your average monthly usage?

If it's only slightly higher than 123gb then personally I would upgrade to 6meg standard as the throttle threshold is about 150gb per 30 days.

Thanks for the info.

I currently use around 100 Gb per month, not sure why it is that much higher this month. Will look at stats later.

I might consider the 6 Mbps uncapped, are you sure about the increased AUP limit?

I have attached the MWEB adsl comparisons.

How are you still with Mweb?!? Worst Isp Ever! simple solution. get yourself a new isp, one that doesn't live in the stone age and still throttles people.

like anyone but mweb, i was with them until the whole throttling debacle. i fled to Afrihost and haven't looked back. now im not one to praise one company without having tried the others but mweb is just ridiculous.

Good Evening, the 4Mbps standard has a threshold of approximately 110GB on a 30 day rolling window.

The 4Mbps premium has a threshold of approximately 400GB.

Better the devil you know than the devil you don't :)

I got my fingers burnt trying out other ISP's.

Looking at this option. Getting fedup because when will the "rolling window" end, damn this.

Your total usage for the past 30 days: 119.76 GB - throttled

Anyone know what the AUP threshold is on Afrihost for 4 Mbps?

Afrihost don't throttle, they shape their accounts. Its all network load dependant. But if you go for a business account you get fully unshaped and unthrottled. I have a 1mb business line. I manage over 170gb on average.

I was with Afrihost, my 4mb line never ever made 1mb. Moved to mweb and I have never been happier! Not one single second down time

Yeah, despite the bad publicity, I guess they might actually be better than most. I have been with MWEB forever.

i have no problem with Mweb, but if you're a high data user then they're not good, when i was with them i had no issues at all, just when they started throttling.

Shaping i can handle but whats the point in being throttled to the point of basically not having internet?? also back then it wasn't easy to change plans, upgrade or downgrade their customer service wasn't good. That's where afrihost strikes back hard..
