I have had MWeb Uncapped 4mbps uncapped since released. I always used to download via uTorrent and had the schedular set to stop downloads at 09H00 and resume at 17H00. No complaints and everything went well.

Then about 8 or 9 months back I decided to try the NZB stuff. I had downloads running 24/7 and within 1.5 weeks I got an Abuse Warning from MWeb. Understandably.
Anyway I found NZB's cumbersome purely because I never really understood how all the apps tied together - and was too lazy to figure it out. So went back to torrents. No more warnings. All good.

Then 3 weeks back I made the effort to figure out Sickbeard and Sabnzbd and stopped downloading via torrents. I never set the schedular in Sabnzbd so of course last Friday I got an abuse warning. Again - understandably.
I enabled the schedular and no downloads run during business hours - just like I did with torrents.

Today however I get Abuse Warning No 2!! My line is almost dead quiet during business hours.

I am trying now to figure out what the pattern of usage is amongst others that try keep the abuse police off my back. I am running Sabnzb just as I use to run uTorrent, but I get k@k with Sabnzb. uTorrent I never had issues.

What times are we allowed to run full speed vs throttled vs hardly anything at all?

What I gather, is NZB's run full speed as soon as they kick off. Torrents however ran at like half speed when the schedular resumed, and only close to midnight did they go full speed. Is this perhaps it? Throttle NZB's early evening and only allow full speed later at night until morning?

Thoughts people? How to best manage this...

Don't think that's allowed, as it will bypass the shaping during business hours.

You got a point. Will change that.

EDIT: I don't download anyway during business hours, but with torrents I was shaped still for a few hours early evening. I am bypassing that currently with SSL and getting full line speed. Will remove SSL so they can control it. Hopefully the abuse police will be happy :)

I am getting full line speed 24/7 with NZBs using SSL (4Mb), but I have taken the uncapped/unshaped option and would throw a fit if I got an abuse warning.

i also got an email but im using filehosts and as far as i am aware not using anything to bypass there shaping

SSL on nzb will construe abuse.
Long duration high speed downloading via port 80 to filehosts, will be considered abuse.

The tips help and make sense guys. I have removed SSL and will leave it to MWeb to shape.
Being on the 2nd warning I think I only have 1 left then I am in the k@k. Hope this works :)

i am not sure if SSL is the issue.
SSL has been unticked from the get go two months ago when i started with sickbeard.
i too received warning number 2 today.
i have download 265 so far. i know this is a lot but i have seen people who have done a lot more and no warning.
i just want to know what is safe.
i am not complaining, in fact i am grateful. so this is not a complaint.

My household usage was just over 300GB last month with Mweb's 4MB shaped uncapped account. Usually it's closer to 250GB - I download most of that using a torrent-to-http service. I've never received any warnings from Mweb and I've had the account for over a year.

That is what I thought. Seen guys clock a lot more than me and they seem to be fine?
Until now I have been fine too (when doing torrents).

Would be nice if an MWeb rep could give some guidance.

one other thing, i have had two news server accounts setup, i just modified one to be rather be a backup. his in the hope that i wont be at full speed. i woder if that will make any difference.
however i think i better cancel my account now and come back after maybe 3 months before i am shown the door.
i like mweb and do not wish to be blacklisted.

I wonder sometimes if Mweb wouldn't be a lot better off shaping P2P applications less aggressively rather than forcing every single downloader to find a way around their shaping entirely.

So what happens after strike 3? Obviously they terminate your uncapped account, but
surely they can't expect you to give a month's notice, right?

Do they permanently ban you? Ban you for a month? Or what?

I dunno. They said something about we get a 3rd warning and after that they start talking about termination. I will double check when I get up later.

I don't want it to reach that point though. I love my MWeb account.

You won't, done way over 800GB+ a month on one of these accounts without ever receiving any warnings, there's a reason you pay 4x more for it.

I don't believe it is how much you download but rather how you do it. I think MWeb want to have the ability to shape you when they need too. Although I rarely notice any shaping if I stay away from torrents and file lockers.
