MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 3

Don't even bother trying to use your internet on a Friday in Rondebosch.

Absolutely shocking. I'd be better off with a dial-up account.

Business Account here in KZN is also having bad packet loss....

Evening Guys, we have no reported outages on our network at the moment.

No reported Telkom outages in an 021 area either, code-red please provide me your account details via inbox message.

@Hummercellc is the packet loss specific to gaming or is it evident on your pings as well?

Everything is bad,

Please remember you can't see my second hop as it is a supplied Cisco Router from Mweb which uses a VPN for my static IP's.
Also I usually see 30ms on this line, it started about an hour ago.

My other 4 lines on the same IMAX are showinf normal latency and no packet loss, they are on Afrihost....

Ok, I just had telkom in to install a 4mb line today. All seemed fine. Had the line ported to mweb for a 4mb uncapped line, put all my details in. Then tried to play a 720i trailer through my apple tv, and it took longer than 5min to get to buffer to 10 seconds of the trailer, changing the settings to SD didn't help at all. And that was the only thing connected to the router, no other device was connected. This is was my speed test result from a few minutes ago:

I tried the mweb speed test, but after 10min it still hadn't finished to download. this is the 011 682 area, is there any problems at the moment? I'll check again tomorrow morning.

Since mweb shut down its news server, man they shape news traffic a lot more. 9am on a saturday and it already shaped to 50% of line speed.

I suppose the caching on the news server helped me a lot.

Hi MichaelFalconer

Please provide me with your MWEB email address and I'll look into it.

Mweb Guy

It seems that everything is back to normal on this end. I notice this seems to be a regular thing on Mweb as of late. Although it happens at random times, and usually normalises within few hours. Something on your network path is faulty. Only seems to affect Mweb none of my other ISP accounts experience this.

Afternoon HummerCellC, I have provided the data to our business team to look into.

Please do continue to provide me the results.

Never thought I would be downgrading Mweb Uncapped to the R29 option. What a shame and they don't even give a damn that they're losing customers .........

Afternoon Mephisto_Helix, is there anything I can do to have you remain with MWEB?

If the news server wasn't killed, I would have no problem with Mweb but when even the cheap nasty IPS's can offer a free NS when Mweb can't, well, speaks for itself unfortunately.

I understand your views Mephisto_Helix, we made the decision as a very small percentage of our user base was using the news servers.

It will be sad to see you go though :(

I was on a premium 4mb uncapped account that is as to me way overpriced and decided to downgrade to the normal account phoned mweb sales to arrange and find out the thresholds and they told me on the premium 400gb 30 day roll over oki never used more than 200gb a month , they told me the normal account has a 200gb roll over period. To my surprise today I saw that I'm throttled and according to my 30 day roll over I'm standing on 120gb . Phoned the technical department and they informed me that the threshold is a 110gb 30 day roll over I've been with Mweb for almost 6 years and this is the first time in my life I'm throttled. I think it's time to make a move to another ISP . Any Ideas guys. Im really disappointed in Mweb. How can sales tell u one thing en Technical another

Evening Wabaki, the threshold on the 4Mbps standard package has always been approximately 110GB.

Please inbox me the details of the agent you spoke to or the telephone you called in on. We will then investigate this.

@ Mweb Guy -

If I phone today and downgrade to the R29 package, am I still going to be charged the uncapped price for November or no?

Hi Mweb guy, tried cancelling this morning however it's been 2 hours and still no calls back after being promised they would call me back.
