For the first time in 2 months I just saw a download over 300kbps. Only one though and it's probably because of loadshedding, a ton of people's Internet is off.

Hehe. Didn't realize there was loadshedding, that makes sense why it's running faster atm.
Something is going on.
This is on a 4mb uncapped premium account:
I disagree.
What do you think it is then? Different shaping times on the weekend?
HI Shaping is more relaxed over weekends as there is less demand for prioritised protocols
Not what I've experienced these last two months.
Is there any feedback on why all protocols are shaped hard 24/7 (and I've seen a pattern here, it seems it's only the premium accounts are complaining?) and what is being done about it?
We investigate these on a case by case basis as we are not experiencing any issues on our network.
please note that we do keep management informed of trends we pick.
I also checked your account and i see that our specialist are investigating what can be the cause of your slow speeds
I'm sorry MWEB Guy, but I do not feel like being put through more hoops to receive the same generic answers.
Adding to the above comments, streaming a 720p video vs 1080p video - the only difference is file size because of the video resolution. Attempting to stream a 1080p video should still run at account speed.
In my case, I can never achieve more than 2Mbps on any protocol. Very noticeable on YouTube and surfing the web. This happens between 08:00 and midnight during the week. Have not tested thoroughly on weekends but will provide feedback.
Issue has been escalated to the network team and they have replied saying it's basically how things are designed in order to manage traffic during peak hours, which in my opinion is unacceptable. I'm going to demand a reduction in price or switch ISPs, because quite frankly paying R540 per month for a "4Mbps Premium" service and receiving 1Mbps to 2.5Mbps 80% of the time does not sit well.
Another day goes by and the speed issues have still not been resolved. Honestly this is really becoming more than just annoying. I cannot game properly. I cannot watch YouTube unless I'd like to watch pixelated content. I cannot stream without constant buffering even on the lowest of settings, I cannot download games properly. This account is literally a 1-2Mbit account(and 2 is pushing it). Why should I be paying R539 p/m for this?
I understand how frustrating this must be. I have updated your escalation with this information
So as a University student I live most of the year at my commune in Pretoria where the ISP we use is Telkom, while they have horrific customer support we rarely have an issue with throttling (Bear in mind this commune has 10 varisty students all with smart phones on facebook, instagram etc. we are all quite heavy users) and our linespeed is almost always constant, however, when I'm back at home in Jo'burg where our ISP is Mweb it's the complete opposite, great customer support but the actual internet is terrible. There's only ever 3 people at max on the internet at any given time and apart from myself there's not much heavy use but we always seem to be throttled (although on my account page, our account status is "unthrottled") we have awful download and browsing speed, just a frustrating experience being on the internet when it's so limited...
