MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 3

Cancelled my 2mb uncapped all inclusive @ R599.00 with MWEB last month, stating that Sept will be my last month (mandatory 1 months notice) and also indicated that the month of Sept must be 2GB capped @ R59.00. Naturally was billed R599 at the beginning of Sept and when I called in (after several attempts to the help desk) was told that the account is not even marked to be cancelled (has been downgraded to 2gb capped though) noone at the helpdesk can help me and i have tried numerous times but no answer. disgusting service

Good Day, there was a momentary problem with our telephony system. Everything is back up now, you should be able to reach us.

You could also inbox me your MWEB account details and I will ensure you are assisted.

10:15Pm and torrents are going at 15Kb/s on my 1 meg premium account. So pathetic . Don't tell me its because of priority at this time of night. Twitch also struggling to watch at 360p. Prior to all this sh*t that happened with Mweb last month, was watching Twitch no problem at 480P and downloads flying full speed after 7pm.

@Mweb Guy Any idea what's going on here? 1GB uncapped :

Good Day, your results reflect possible congestion at your exchange. Especially evident in your trace route to MWEB, the second hop is where the latency is stemming from.

This normally indicates that the latency is closer to the remote end.

Please see my private message I have sent you with the alternate account details, I need you to do the speed tests with those details when you have the problem with speeds.

Just as a matter of interest, I also ran speed test & tracert while logged in with an Afrihost account at the same time, so it would have been with the same exchange circumstances. I'll reply to your pm later in the day, but would appreciate any thoughts on the discrepancy.

Thanks for the details, the trace route still hows high latency on the 2nd hope; however not as high as with the MWEB account.

The speed test for this morning does seem much better. I will wait on your test results for this evening.

The speed test show's that is was done this morning and not yesterday evening when the MWEB tests were done.

The last speed test is the one I referred to which was done this morning, see bold, hence

Your previous test was done at night when residential areas have their peak traffic. I had the same problem where my latencies were sky high between 7pm and 12pm. During the day everything was fine though.

Telkom moved me to a recently upgraded exchange and that solved everything. I suggest you contact them to do the same for you.

@MWEB GUY

Im getting REALLY bad service from mweb at the moment.
As a premium reseller we have a 20mb bonded line and we have been getting about 5-7mb since the first of august as you can see from ref: 20130801006063.
All 9 of our other ADSL connections are working fine.
I have been on the phone daily with your "support" team and i'm on a first name basis with half of your tier 2 support staff.
MWEB support tells me my lines are synching @ 10mb and the exchange isn't congested, but for some reason i'm still only getting 7mb.
we use this line as a critical part of our business and can't go on like this.
Do you have a number i can phone for any competent staff member to actually help me with this ?
After being escalated to numerous tier 2 support guys and still no results i'm pretty close to driving over your cisco router with my car and getting an isp that actually gives me even close to what i am paying for.

Quit mweb?

Hi EviLMasH

Thanks for bringing this to my attention, I'm really sorry to read of your experience.
I will notify the relevant persons in the business team and ask that they contact you to address this matter.

Does anyone know what counts towards being throttled? Does gaming? Will gaming be effected? Does uploading? I upload more than I download. Does local? Local doesn't cost much, surely you can use more local than international?

Hi Oj0

Speed limiting is based on if you are a high bandwidth user. If you do find yourself speed limited then, yes, Gaming would be affected because your speed is reduced.

Hi MWEB Guy, I don't think you're understanding my question. If I do a lot of downloads from the MWEB Steam server does it count towards me being a high bandwidth user? Eg, over the past year I've bought and downloaded in excess of 1 TB worth of games. If I upload a lot to a local (South African) FTP server will it count towards high usage? If I do a lot of local browsing (not just .co.za sites, I'm talking about sites actually hosted in SA) will it count towards high usage? Or do you just measure total traffic and throttle regardless of what the traffic is or where the connection terminates on the other side?

Oj0 your odds of winning the lotto is better than getting ANY information out of MwebGuy regardging their throttling policy. Check the numerous threads that spawned and all your questiond and more were answered by the same cut and paste PR BS lines.

Good luck.

I think its safe to assume everything you do will count towards throttling, if you want to actually use your internet you'll need to find a new ISP.
