Good morning ChrisGeo, I have checked your account and I see that it has been throttled.

Thanks for the reply

Im guessing that I have to be under a 100gb on my 1mb account to not be throttled each month?

"These users are affecting the quality of our network and using unreasonable amounts of bandwidth for the product they are paying for."

Am I not on the premium product? Is the 140Gb I did last month unreasonable on my line?
Its not even like im torrenting 24/7, at the most I do 5gb a month of torrents and the rest of the usage comes from me watching 360p streams...

Yes, I know all this. I got a letter last month so I decreased my usage from an average of 8GB
a day to about 4GB a day. I thought I was being a "good customer" and was no longer a part
of the 3-5% of abusers. Clearly Mweb would prefer it I treat my 1Mbps "premium" account like
a 384kbps account. I was one of Mwebs biggest fans and defenders but now I don't know how
to defend any of this.

I echo this sentiment.

I am on on the highest premium account Mweb offers and have just seen i've been throttled too.
The sad part is I know one person might not make a difference in their world but moving away from them will make one in mine.. so its goodbye mweb.

Throttling me to 1/3 of my usual speed I can still slightly understand.... but now I'm getting sub-384 speeds? This is just one more shameless intimidation tactic, expect my cancellation later this week.

Another question regarding "Your account should be unthrottled approximately in 3-4 days, also the less data you use the sooner you will be unthrottled"

3-4 days is 20gb if we go by 5gb per day.
Why not just send me or the others an email saying that we are in danger of getting throttled if we do X amount of downloads in the next few days?

Each customers usage differs and therefore it will be difficult to implement.

Also not that previous discretionary methods such as sending warnings to abusive customers have not proved to be effective in managing this behavior and enforcing our AUP will automate this.

you're lucky, my speed has dropped to 15kb/s , my connection is throttled now, I've used 50GB for the month so far... I've had enough of MWEB ... I'm leaving them

I really don't want to have to move to another ****ty company that's going to come up with some moronic AUP system a month after I join.

What I don't see is why this AUP is comparing us to people that only use a 4mb line for browsing news24.
Why are we getting punished for using half of the what we pay for?

Is mweb increasing its subscriber base without increasing its bandwidth? Is this the reason?

Our AUP has not changed, it is the way we are enforcing it that has changed.

What happened prior to August then?

Previous discretionary methods such as sending warnings to abusive customers have not proved to be effective in managing this behavior and enforcing our AUP will automate this.

I see I've been throttled too, and this is after half a month AND after I've already made sure to decrease my usage in order to avoid being throttled.
Being throttled after using 60gb to the point where it takes an hour to download a 20mb file is ridiculous.
AUP is supposed to mean Acceptable Use Policy, not Absolutely Unreasonable Policy
You can go f*** yourself with your "AUP"

"Free the web (so we can exploit it)"

Cheers mweb, I'd like to say it's been a pleasure but unlike you I try not to lie.
(The message is not directed at you MWEB Guy - but I hope that you relay the dissatisfaction you encounter here to the decision makers)

Mweb Guy, my connection just started behaving this morning, going to guess an issue at telkom that was sorted out... thanks!

Can you share with us what the limits are before you get throttled and where we can check our usage?

Ive had this 1mb line for 12 months now and I have not received a single warning when I did 3 months of 140gb and 2 of 160gb(last year), the rest were 120gb and lower. So you telling me that you haven't changed the AUP must be Bs.

Hi phiber, good to hear about your connection.

I can not give you specific thresholds

I canceled my account this morning.
It's a pity that Mweb has decided to implement this policy. Seeing as the majority of supposedly heavy users are in IT they have decided to screw their biggest supporters. I will definitely recommend to my current and future clients to move.
