Yes my windows updates still slow.

Our Technical team have made contact with you regarding download speeds recently.

Your usage does not depict that of a slow connection.

Recently you made mention of slow torrents in addition to slow windows updates.

I requested netstat results and have not received them as yet.

It's not that it's only the windows updates that's slow

I am so over MWEB at this point. Every 2 weeks, I need to phone you guys, change settings on my router, or I cannot do anything, as I sit with ping rates of over 900m/s and my speed is halved.

As soon as Fibre lands in Blairgowrie, you have lost me. Will go to another ISP that does not offer the BS service you guys have been giving me.

STAY AWAY FROM MWEB, THEY ONLY CARE ABOUT MONEY, NOT SERVICE

Unlikely to be MWEB at fault I'm afraid.

So please explain to me, how after I change my username from @mweb to @dslmweb, back to @mweb every two weeks is my problem? as each time I phone them, that is what I need to do.

Restarting the router does not help a bit.

The last time I actually had to change the username to be an IP Adress.

Changing realms (IP address) can alleviate issues. I think most of us do it from time to time, and thank goodness MWEB as a higher tier (tier 1?) ISP actually has this 'tool' (multiple realms) and others available to us.

Have you spoken to Telkom and asked for a port reset?

Is your telephone line crystal clear or are there crackles, static or other noises?

Have you tested another ISP for a similar two week period, monitoring pings etc.?

The reality is that MWEB just basically works, always, and any issues not resolved from changing realms or account reauths, are almost certainly due to your line/equipment/Telkom issue.

if it was a line or equipment failure, then changing the IP address would not solve the issue. And yes, my phone line is very clear.

Also, switching off the router more than 10 minutes also resets IP, but does not solve the problem

I have less than 3 months till fibre comes in, at that point, MWEB is no more. it does not make sense to switch for that amount of time.

I am not even considering their fibre options at this point in time

That is not necessarily true.

Have you tested another ISP for a similar two week period, monitoring pings etc.?

No, and I don;t monitor pings, my account becomes unusable. Restarting router does nothing. Getting port reset does nothing. Only changing the last part of the username fixes it.

To me, that does not make sense at all

It is some sort of hacker. I get it at random times on Mweb or any other ISP. The IP's always trace to a comcast address in the USA or it is a China based IP. They use all your upload speed, don't know why, they just do. Invest in a router where you would be able to monitor all actions related to your bandwidth, I use a single port modem and Mikrotik RB-750 for instance.

EDIT:

Just happened to me now again, weird thing is my upload showed 6mbps, and I only have a 4mbps down and 512kbps up connection.

How much data can I download within the 30 Period without being throttled? I wish ISP's could make this clear on their websites so that I dont have to call in to find out.
