Anyone know when the last day of Mweb service will be if you cancelled in August. Is it tomorrow? Need to sort out my new ISP in time.

Hi

If you requested cancellation in August, the last day would be today as September would have been your notice period.
So the account should automatically terminate later tonight.

Outstanding!

Funny how I'm Unthrottled on my last day.

Well just over an hour left as a mweb customer, I didn't get throttled yet either. 2mbps premium, just short of 150gb this month. Unfortunately I won't take the risk that I could be throttled at any time without warning. Thanks mweb guy for the assistance over the last year or two, maybe I will be back some time in the future when mweb is more transparent about how the throttling works.

Where are you going Krypt? I am surprised nobody has recommended TelkomInternet. It seems you get decent warning before throttling takes place on their network.

Just a warning to all those who downgraded to a 1gb capped product. Mweb set a "safety lock" by default to 2.5GB @ R500.00 That means you will get no warning and at least owe them R529.00. You can set it to 500mb @ R100 which is also a big rip-off if you ask me.

Mwebguy why can I not set this safety cap to 0 MB?

Good day bekdik

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

The system will automatically update. Our ADSL packages are billed in advance, due to the package still being a up to 1Mb uncapped at the moment, that is why you were invoiced for it. Once it gets adjusted, the system will amend it as well.

Hi Guy. I see that my package is adjusted to 1MB capped. Yesterday I was billed R199, not R29. When can I expect to be credited the difference?

Morning Leatherman

We do send out warnings to the MWEB email address on the account. Please inbox message me the MWEB email address or username so that I can look to see if that option is enabled.

You can set it to hard cap you after 1Gb. You can login to My Account and change it there.

@ MWEB / MWEB Guy,

I need some help with this regard, I am very irate with MWEB at this point.

I sent an email to cancellations@mweb.co.za on the 25'th August 2013 and subsequently received a response of my cancellation on the 28'th August 2013. The follow up email asked that I fill out attached forms and fax to number requested. Granted I only sent through the fax on the 5'th September and now MWEB has debited my account by another R369. Surely my initial email should serve as date of commencement of cancellation. Now they are asking for a proof of fax that I sent through a month ago.

Where is the customer service? Surely if they have not received something, why not then follow it up to check with the client, at least that's how things work in my company. If this is the quality of service I get from MWEB, it's no wonder I'm cancelling, never has my service been so poor from MWEB.

@MWEBGuy
I don't know if you can recall, but this goes back to tweets back and forth between you and I prior to this in order to find out the procedures to follow.

I both e-mailed and faxed my cancellation on the 27th of September and I also received a charge of R199 today. When I check my account statements, it seems like I was charged R199, then credited R199 and then, for some fantastical reason, I was charged R58 for my 1GB account which should have only cost R29.

"By using any of MWEB’s services, Customers agree to comply with this AUP and to remain responsible for its users, where applicable. MWEB reserves the right to change or modify the terms of the AUP at any time, by posting an updated version on its website at http://www.mweb.co.za/legalpolicies/. Customer's use of MWEB’s services after changes to the AUP are posted shall constitute acceptance of any changed or additional terms."

^ This clause sounds illegal and in contravention of the CPA to me. I just can't see how a person can be bound to a contract that can be changed without any warning or even notice that such a change has taken place and which changes the user is not required to explicitly agree to before continuing use of the service. I'm unable to verify that this is the case at this moment, though. But others are welcome to take it to their legal advisers to find out - it may well be that we're all going through this trouble when, in fact, MWEB is actually in breach of the CPA.

I just wanted to leave this whole thing at R29 for the final month because it just didn't seem worth the fighting, but now I've been charged R199 and still haven't had word from the Cancellations dept so I'm extremely displeased.
