I wouldn't go back to them purely out of principle

Me to I actually managed to download 410gb last month but they will still never get my money again. I downgraded to a 1GB capped this month. I noticed yesterday that I am running trough this quite quickly which normally does not happen with my 3g. Last night I checked before I switched of my modem that I used 201mb. This morning first thing I used 301mb. Anybody know how this can be possible?

You are quite correct.
Extracts from the CPA:

MWeb is in contravention of the CPA at the very least, and being deceitful to their customers at best!

I would suggest that MWeb Guy takes this up with his CEO and posts a response here

Posted by another dissatisfied/cheated exMWeb customer.

ORLY? Despite what you are saying, the extracts that I have quoted clearly indicate otherwise - MWeb have definitely changed their AUP without pointing it out to its customers in advance AND are withholding a proper service to "encourage" them to upgrade to a more expensive package.

Anyhat, this morning alone I have received two requests for recommendations for an ISP.

Guess who DID NOT get them signed up with MWeb.

They are taking forever to process my cancellation request. How long does it take?

They are very happy to debit money off my account every month (very reliably) but to get them to do anything else? Pssh.

so, sent through a request on 27 september, 2013 to be downgraded to email only.

got an automated response shortly after that.

nothing since.

also, it's been suggested that this is something that is possible in other threads.

if this is the case, i'd like to know the price of the email only account, please.

if it is more expensive than dropping to 1gb capped then that would be good to know as well.

thanks.

Good Evening

I'm not sure we still offer the mail box only account. It used to be offered at R55.00

Telkom Line Upgraded

Strange... from 1Mbps to 2 Mbps Line.. :) Not that i am complaining :p Not sure if it's cause of Line Upgrade by Telkom or what but ADSL seems better... :whistling:

lol.

mweb finally got back to me via their billing department. it took a week.

they want me to - instead of simply emailing them to ask for a downgrade - fill in the cancellation form.

THE CANCELLATION FORM. which is not a DOWNGRADE FORM.

thank god i'm not easily confused, right?

Mweb Guy - Am I reading this Ad correctly

http://www.mweb.co.za/productspricing/2/Business/HotDeals/4MbpsADSL.aspx

MWEB Business offers various broadband services. While we strongly recommend an uncapped, unshaped and unthrottled service:wtf:, we realize that businesses have different connectivity requirements. Ask our sales consultants which solution would best meet your business' requirements.

If I come back to MWEB on this account you will NOT throttle .....?

And why does your Ad say CLEARLY unthrottled, but in your conditions you include this

"Throttling is a bandwidth management practice to manage Internet traffic – a user’s connection speed may be reduced based on usage patterns and usage history.'

No seriously - can you clear up the confusion here please ............ It can only be one or the other and I am keen to understand what I would get on the business package.

I think they're implying that an unshaped/unthrottled Business account is optional and recommend. At least that's how I read it. If you look at the business product page it says:

Various bandwidth options available; we recommend unshaped and unthrottled.

What would be useful is the price for the unshaped/unthrottled account. I'm assuming the prices listed are the basic business options.

Hi greywolfe

You correct, no cancellation form is needed to downgrade.

Send me your MWEB account details and I'll have this investigated ASAP.
