MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 3

Shows that the normal, premium and business was actually the same thing re-branded behind the scenes? Of course mr pajamas would like you to think its actually a different product ?

Afternoon, please note that business clients can link home accounts to their package.

Which would also be impacted on by the AUP changes.

My only issue now is that in my parent's fervor of "UNCAPPED O_O", they overpaid Mweb rather obsessively, leading to over a grand in credit. This is now credit with a company that doesn't provide and their cancellation form seems like a fairly shady waving of credit documnent. I suppose I'll have to be a bit of a stick in the mud to have any hope of getting that back.

Very unhappy with Mweb, been throttled so bad that I can't even use Explorer.
Will be leaving Mweb ASAP:mad:

Yes it would BUT.............. who in heavens still use a ISP dependant e-mail. Register @ live.com or even gmail for goodness sake! You can add your ISP mails and others to the accounts list.

Well... I have had this email for yonks! Maybe 10-15 years? :) It was my first email address and It is to much of a hassle to transfer all our accounts and signed up websites etc.

I was throttled and couldn't even browse basic Web pages. I've had the use of an awesome Openweb trial account for the past week. 2 days into using it I cancelled my Mweb account. Now it's gonna be a tough decision between Openweb, Afrihost and Telkom.

Cancelling mw, cancelled dstv, drifta. No more business from me - just one account yes? Thats your downfall ... assumption b1tch!
Somehow it passed over their heads just how influencial these IT guys (and those familar with interwebs, etc) actually are, to friends, family, associates, businesses. They really F^cked with the wrong crowd especially given that we batted for you and got u business in the past. Guess what mofos?

Btw : nearly 100gb this month with throttling. 2tbz over 12 mo on 1mb uncapped. Bwooohahahaha

So I cruised into the MWEB shop to cancel. Apparently I cant cancel here .... oh no, I need to mail a form to head office.
I ask about the throttling ... and without missing a beat, the guy tells me its for MY own good??? (I can see why he works the front end of a 2 bit ISP store).
I need to migrate my line back to Telkom ..... He tells me that he cant help, I must phone in ... but I have already mailed I say. I have mailed every mail address I could find on the MWEB site.... Sorry cant help me.
I want to down grade to the cheapie R29,00 package. Sure. Now I ask, can I move to the R29 package from the 1st?? Well he says, it all depends on MWEB and ..... At this point, I lost it, blew two fuses and chased out two potential customers. The guy finds a cancellation form conveniently and offers to send it, but quickly reminds me that I must still call MWEB (probably knows they are incompetent) ....at this point I want to .... excuse the pun .... THROTTLE the guy.
Well deed done with any luck, MWEB will migrate my line back and on the 1st, I will give their R29 and say goodbye and good riddance.

8 straight days of being throttled.....I am actually quite dumbfounded atm. I never knew that a company could treat their own customers this way. I can understand if they shaped the line for a few days but having this kind of service for so long its beyond frustrating. Can't play games properly, watching a YouTube video is out of the question, hell I can't even use teamspeak because everyone sounds like a damn robot.

Customer??? But you're not a customer, you're an abuser.

I guess I didn't realise using an UNCAPPED product made me an "abuser". Never received a single "abuse" email till last month which it seems almost 70% of their customer base received.

Just move to another better ISP and actually enjoy having internet. MWEB is a has been , they have really damaged their public image when they brought back the throttle dinosaure

But wait, could this throttling be even worse than what you were thinking?

Mweb is implementing its throttling on a rolling 30 day basis, which means that unless you switch your modem off for 30 days, you will never achieve a zero download basis.

Why? Well it's because the last 30 days usage is somehow included in Mweb's calculation, and, that even when throttled, you are still downloading albeit at a dial-up speed.

Yeah, I know you don't open a browser or run torrents or ftp, but there are a bunch of processes still running, which are utilizing bandwidth. Little things like software updates, checks for software updates, mail download, checks for mail downloads, etc. And maybe not only from your PC, what about all those devices which have a WiFi connection? Their usage adds to your cap/throttle level.

But, wait there's more. As your speed is so slow, an update may fail due to timeout, and then retry many times. So maybe it's not a 100MB download. After 10 retries it becomes 1000MB, and that's a gig! And what if you are using a business product, nuff said.

Oh, and of course you signed up for some cloud storage, didn't you? Remember all those great high res pics you took over the weekend, that automatically are download off your phone/camera into the local folder on your PC? They quietly start uploading to the cloud server and whoops, you're over limit again.

And for business users there's that cloud backup service, maybe some SAAS. Another few days of throttle.

But aren't the above the reason why you signed up for uncapped, so that you wouldn't have to micro-manage your Internet connection? But you can't even do that as without any way of being able to tie usage to limit, there isn't any way to manage.

Or am I misunderstanding everything?

Cancel your account and move to another ISP.

Well im trying to do that. Unfortunately I have my line with them as well.

Why cant I get a call from someone over there. And by the time I put the phone down. I don't have to worry about it again. Have sent emails to them and I get responces that are half what I asked for and the other half not. I just want to sort it out in 1 phone call . Its nearing the end of this month, I can see they are going to pull me into paying something for November :(
