MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 3

I am so pissed off by this throttling crap. Can you please just read this. This was from the press release after Mweb released their new throttled accounts.

MWEB’s 1Mbps Premium Uncapped ADSL pricing remains unchanged at R199 per month for data only and R339 per month for data plus an ADSL line (ADSL access).

“Unlike 1Mbps competitor offerings, this product will remain unthrottled,” MWEB highlighted.

And now I'm throttled? What the hell?

And the fact that on their website, the only difference in the product description between the Uncapped and Premium Uncapped is the mention of the word throttling. Please can someone write to the ASA to complain about this. It is purely wrong.

Morning, we both know you did not just download gaming traffic the past 30 days.

Clients seldom move 100gigs worth of games on a 1MB account.

We do throttle on total usage used over a 30 day rolling window. The usage includes gaming traffic.

However when you are not throttled, your gaming experience is outstanding. :p

Is it 100gigs in a 30day rolling window before throttling on the 1Mbps account?

Then I should be fine, I don't come close to that and I download a few rather large games from PSN+ every month. Was worried I might get throttled, but haven't been yet.

Edit: I see they do show the last 30day usage now.

Morning, we added the rolling window data as a guide.

You should be fine looking at your usage patterns ;)

Let me know how you are experiencing the network, In my experience the network is generally running much better :D

How old is this?

Okay so it's made moot by the change to their policies in September then?

Yeah I get that. But firstly I was not notified of the changes and refer to the last part of my message as to how it's still being advertised the same on their website. "Change the policies, but not the advertising"

Aaaah, social media is a strange and wonderful thing .......

MWEB blocked me from their facebook page. Obviously, my brutal honesty and continued support was not appreciated...

Tonight, I had quick look ... funny stuff ... theres whole bunch of new pi$$ed customers spamming them ...

MWEB - give up the throttling. Wish someone at MWEB had the ''nads to go to the CEO and tell him there is an ID 10 T error in his office.... really.

Wow they actually banned you, not good mweb

Do you know what a humble bundle is? Let me explain. Game manufactures bundle a whole bunch of games and sell them for charity. The cost is plus minus $1 but can go as high as $6 if you choose to take the more modern games they include in the bundle for a little bit extra. I did take one with the more modern games and one without. In addition, the month before that I bought another one with games range from Battlefield 3, Sims 3 to many lesser known titles.
Once purchased you download them via steam.
So at the cost of roughly R70 I added 20 plus games to my downloads. Legally purchased and owned by me. I used your services to download them, so yes when I say without doubt 95% of that 140gb was gaming related I am not a liar, I am not making it up nor do I find the fact that you have to insult a paying customer funny. I understand you must tow the company line with regards to everyone who abusers our internet is actually a thieving internet pirate downloading torrents. However, in my case you are wrong. 95% of my downloads and uploads if not more are legitimately gaming related. Yes, I have utorrent on my computers, and yes I have downloaded the odd movie here and there but not even close to 3gbs worth. For the benefit of the doubt I will say we can push that figure up to 5gb for the two months, not even a 30 day period. I have DSTV etc. It is rare that I want to watch movies. If you have not gather by now I am an avid gamer. It is my hobby. I enjoy playing pixel wars with who-ever I choose.
List of games downloaded in last 30 days, some may have by now fallen out of the throttle window.
Planetscape 2 (free to play 10gbs, may look like a torrent but it is not.) Got rave reviews so I re-installed it.
Rome 2 15 gb (Game sucks but hey-ho)
X-com 10gb (hours of fun)
Divinity 2 8gb (same here)
X- reunion 15gb (a waste but I wanted the set)
X - Prelude 6gb (ditto)
X - Terrain War 8gb (ditto waiting for X-Rebirth)
xl cities 7gb (nice)
Dead space 2 10gb (nice)
medal of honour 12gb (sucks)
Mirrors edge 6gb (interesting)
dead space 3 10gb still to be downloaded
Crysis 2 8gb still to be downloaded
Burnout paradise 6gb (groan)
And a ****load of normal updates for games which can average plus minus between 100m to 3gbs depending on how steam updates
And these do not include the countless other games I have in Steam. I have 74 games in my steam library, trust me you cannot torrent those. lol
Add to that about 20 in my Gamersgate library as well as six or so in my Origin library. (Oh Mweb sponsors Gamersgate so I do not need to tell you how big some of those games are? lol
Plus I actually play the games online!

So, you do the maths, and then accuse someone of being a torrent whore somewhere else please.
Ps War Thunder and World of tanks, forgot to mention them, hell they update on torrent, yeah I know damn Russians, shocking right!. But Mweb is optimized for these very game protocols, sight.
Arma3, I play on your server, a good gaming session of a few hours will chew up close to a gig plus I guess, that’s if you guys are not updating your server which means more downloads for me...
https://www.humblebundle.com/weekly - Really cheap games as long as you do not use Mweb, seriously guys every week they have bargains galore.
For Mr Mwebguy, welcome to the internet revolution, do not say gaming friendly if you are not, and anyone who's business model includes throttling Steam, Gamersgate and Origin is not going to survive.

Sad reality is that the ASA deems it uncapped. If the customer still has access to the internet in the throttled state. It is still uncapped (even if it crawls at snail pace)

I think most people here are upset with the manner in which MWEB is throttling and the way they went about notifying customers... Its a pity to see such a strong ISP fall... I wonder if Rudi would of stood against this decision or praised it... But then again Im sure the average MWEB uncapped user does about 10 - 20Gb a month.... lol

Waiting for Mwebs smart arse response to whether they throttle steam lol...

@shvak how do play all that games? But I can see how you can do it. On PSN+ you get 10 games a month that you can download and you can download those that you purchased but didn't download yet. And most games are in the 4 gig region

Do not play them all, but as they are basiclly free you would be an idiot not to download them :)

@ SHVAK - That would that MWEB impunity that I have mentioned a few times.

Please allow me to apologise on MWEBs account ... because you wont get an apology from them.

What a bloody cheek! I am so glad that I left Mweb and are now dealing with proper professionals in the name of Afrihost. How low the Mweb service and professionalism have dropped are just beyond comprehension! Pathetic to say the least!

As I said, deal with the customers with impunity.....

Holy ****, did you just say that? I'm all for PR people appearing more human, but -1000 on the professionalism there Mweb guy. Glad to see a wall of text proving this sort of remark asinine.
