MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 3

Now heres where I get a bit confused ....

If the top class network is under so much strain, why are MWEB advertising for MORE customers .... That's like inviting people to stadium that sold out and filled to capacity??

All the ''positive feedback'' ... I imagine this must those folk that wake up in the morning and decide to pop a personal mail thru to their ISP, just to say thanks :wtf: because since this comment was made by MWEB, I have seen more negative press than positive ... and by positive - its those few sheeple who will accept less for more and simply justify this to themselves (exactly 3 and two respondents were ify)

Last point, if the excessive users have jumped ship or are being micro managed, why doesn't MWEB stop throttling ?? Why don't other ISPs have to go to these lengths if the abusers are now on their networks??

Yip couldn't say it any better...things have changed a lot at MWEB - and I will move away. The wheel has turned. I've been an internet user since 1993 and I see this as normal. Will now move to ISP X until they start and so on and so on...

BTW - really stupid question - how do I check my usage - where is this control panel. When I go to My Account it needs all this Sign Me In nonsense. Why can't I just log in with my ADSL logon details and check my usage...bit miffed this morning.

So +/- 130gb for premium 1mbps, 100gb for standard.

There is no standard 1mbps product. Only a Premium one. The throttle is 100gb, pure and simple. If he looks at his usage he will notice he has uploads which are included into the total usage displayed. That is why he is sitting on 130gb plus. Hope that explains

Ah so you're right. That's a bit daft. They should have two tiers like the rest of the speeds. If you see his rolling 30 day average it's 135 so it's not his calculation. Seems the throttling is easing up then.

Hi aborg

You can view your usage via our website by clicking on My Account and signing in with your MWEB email address.

Or just type myadsl.mweb.co.za into your URL - MWEB email address needed to sign in with also.

I use my ADSL modem login details - should I be using other details?

I don't think I ever registered an mweb e-mail address since I do not use the mweb e-mail server.

Surely my ADSL modem details is my e-mail login details as well?

OK I am officially the dumbest person around here since I can for the life of me not sign in to this usage checker...used IE, Firefox, Chrome and I am at the office now. Must be because we use IS as an ISP??? ;P

Will try again at home tonight FFS.

Of course, if it weren't for the throttling and being ..I assume..... uncapped ... You shouldn't need to worry about useage...:p

Sure MWEB techies will help you sort it out, they have always been good to me.

Hi aborg

No you can't sign in with the ADSL username. You need to sign in with an email address.

Give me the username and I'll provide the email address that is registered in your account.

6Mb line, 4Mb account and yet I can't even stream on twitch.tv at any time (after hours, mid day same thing) without bad lag on even the medium quality. Surely with this setup I should be able to watch streams on high without problems.

International has been giving me intermittent problems the entire day. At present my Speed Test to both Telkom and Mweb time out. Pings on Guild Wars have jumped from a reasonable 200-300ms to a whopping 1070--1400ms.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I note with interest that MWEB are looking at their prices??? This in response to a query for a static IP on their FB page.

Any news on this other than what was on FB??

Evening Schitzo

There are no reported issues regarding international that we aware of. The ping spikes, is that only in Guild Wars or other games as well?

Hi dasco144

Please let me know if you are still having issues this evening.

MWEB used to be the best ISP before. Why the new status quo? Is shaping the 3% of your user base to death not good enough?

Mmm...OK I was wrong looks like I am one of the heavy users. How the h@ll long is this throttling gonna last?

Mweb2.JPG

Any case will jump ship at the end of Nov. I was gonna go with Telkom all in one 2Mbps in any case.

For the moment will have to be happy with 34KB/s. This whole situation sux, having a funny deja vu feeling.

Where on MWEB's website is throttling for uncapped accounts explained in detail?

PS: I downgraded from 4Mbps to 2Mbps +- a week and a half ago so technically speaking I was half 4Mbps half 2Mbps this month. Never got full 4Mbps due to line quality.
