MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 3

Sure there is always other traffic as we use it to keep the kids busy during the week but this normally doesn't effect our login. As I stated this started happening recently. Basically open up the WoW client. Type in credentials. It actually sits on "Connecting" for a long time then throws a very quick error and says "disconnected from server". The odd thing is the packet that seems to check if your credentials are correct goes through quickly(i.e. I get a "incorrect username" dialog almost instantly if I did type it in wrong) It is the actual logging into the WoW realm that seems to time out I believe.

Hellhound

Are you able to test with no other traffic on your network?

We have not received Many WoW related queries recently, especially related to logging in.

Does not seem like a network related issue.

The MWEB Specialists have been trying for months, it got ok for quite a while, but these last 3 weeks or so it has been very bad. The game is called Warcomander and hosted by www.kixeye.com. PC based browser embedded game. You can either connect via Facebook portal or connect directly on Kixeye's home page.

Ther servers are in the US, but I think our traffic gets routed via the UK.

I don't think there is much we can do for kixeye traffic or facebook related games.

However which alternate ISP are you testing with?

Can you provide me trace routes with your MWEB account and the alternate account?

Facebook is just the portal used to connect to the game. I will try and get trace routes later today. Still does not explain why MWEB does not work but another ISP does. Oh, forgot to add, over weekends when the shaping on your network is more relaxed, I tend to have no issues connecting via MWEB.

I will try tonight with just one system on the router and see it his resolves the issue. If so it maybe just the streaming service but I check speed tests as well as packet loss and they seem to perform almost 100% of the speed (8.8mbit down 0.76mbit/s up) with no issues. Could it be a port problem on telkom side? I also notice that on Chrome, Youtube loads in bits and pieces not as a whole page. Clicking on a youtube link also take a while to load the video. Sometimes the video sound will play before the actual video appears.

Afternoon Gents, can I enable monitoring on your accounts to try and ascertain how the Apple traffic is graphing on our side?

Please also provide me examples or screenshots of speeds obtained using apple traffic with your MWEB account and alternate account if possible.

You're most welcome to enable monitoring.

I disconnected all machines on my network and tried to connect with the same results. Not sure what if anything is wrong. Could maybe be a port problem on the exchange? Should I ask Telkom just to reset the port and see if that resolves the issue? It wasn't a speed issue it seems to be a port number problem but I can't be sure why or what is causing it.

After some digging I did finally log in with a work around. Launching the 32 bit version seemed to work. Don't ask me how. But it did so I am happy just to be back online.

Thanks for looking into this anyway Mweb Guy:) Maybe the next complaint from a WoW standpoint can try what I did.

Quite frankly, you HAVE to agree there is a network issue. It was bad before, but this now ludicrous. Are you guys so intent on losing subscribers? How many tracert's do you want from multiple users complaining about the same issue. All we hear is "we will pass it on to the network team and revert back" .

Ate you guys becoming Afrihost and Openweb nr 2?

Hi,

Thanks for the feedback, I will need to forward this to the network team to address.
Is this the only site having trouble connecting to?
You mentioned that is was working on the MWEB account, what happens when you try to access the site now?
Do you get any error messages?

Yes, it is my online game. I cant connect now at all. no error messages, just no connection. Fact of the matter is I can connect with an alternate ISP trial account at will. See previous posts.

Why has the network team not responded to the previous times this issue has been "forwarded" to them?

It was never this bad, only the last month or so.

Hi Drifter

Thanks for the info, I have sent it to the team.
Please keep in mind that this is a web based game and as such it's possibly a routing issue.
With this being said, the team are not able to find any issues at the moment.
We have not receive any other complaints regarding this game that I can recall.
Also the game seems to be fine at certain times of the day which I have to admit is a bit strange.
Hopefully they able to provide some more feedback with the latest info provided.
