@ Penguin... NICE!! so you the bugger that is reason for me not having tickle fish? like the sense of humour

I hear what you saying on the prepaid, makes sense when you buying electricity, airtime, etc but don't make sense if you signed a contract agreeing to pay X for Y?
Take DSTv for example, you watch as much as you want but they bill you in arrears ..but let me tell you, even that billing is fubar! they can never get it right!

Dear MWEB,
yes regarding billing, I see on "My Account" that I have been billed for 2 months in advance a total of R438. I just signed up on 2 April 2010. How does this work? I thought it will be R219/month on a month-to-month basis. Did I miss something in the T&C?

@Smiley_lauf

I really don't understand how that works cos as I said, the T&C says that nothing about that, and I told the guy signed up with if they do that to me, i'm going to ASA and making this public knowledge...

I conceded to paying the prorate for March and the advance for April but not two months in advance, what if I am not happy with service and want to cancel during month of April? Afrihost and WA says you can cancel same month as long as its before the 25th and they dont bill two months ahead

how long will it be before MWeb starts imposing some sort of throttling/fair use policy/call it what you will? The terms and conditions do allow for it.
Hi LancelotSA,

As has been stated many times before, MWEB will not impose any kind of throttling (soft cap) on our Uncapped ADSL services. Our consumer (Connect) products are however subject to shaping, meaning non-priority protocols (e.g. torrents, news, rapidshare etc.) will be restrained during peak network load to ensure priority protocols (e.g. browsing & email) continue to provide a premuim experience.

On the subject of fair use, in a nutshell, MWEB will consider abuse as any activtiy which has a detrimental impact on the user base as a whole. Such situations will be dealt with on a case by case basis directly with the user in question.

MWB.

@ MWEB

..you lying through your blow hole... then understand me this....how come the net has been so slow the last few days?

max DL speeds i have been seeing on the uncapped is between 10/15kpbs and on the capped I get full speed ahead?

Also ....I see NO answer to ANY of the QUESTIONS i posed to you a few msgs back ...why is that?

u are DEFINITELY doing throttling, either that or you have now have policy-based routing introduced....

Guys...the irony here is that they are trying to lure out all those mense who use P2P and torrents and stuff but yet they host a crap load of stuff on their news servers

Telling someone they are lying is rather childish, firstly the last few days i have not been having any speed issues what so ever on mweb uncapped, apart from the intl drops, everything's been perfect. And if you are on a 384 line and downloading during office hours the speeds you are getting are about right. And i mean seriously whats another 15KB lol :P they really should do away with 384 lines they stupid, Err Brad, they do prioritizing on ports based on network load. They have already told everybody this where have you been? There news servers do requests to other servers, and cache the content, do you think mweb sit and download the **** themselves.

Hi Smiley_lauf,

As I explained in the previous post, the initial R438 is only due at the end of the month, with R219 of it being for April in arrears, and the other R219 for May in advance.

It is done this way to accomodate the time delays required to submit the debit order run to the bank.

Subsequent bills will be for R219 in advance for the next month. Our cancellation term is a full calendar month, thus once cancelled is recieved all that is required is for the debit order to be cancelled.

I said 384 as a whole is stupid not that you're stupid:) please learn to read; YOUR connection is really bad, im downloading at over 400KB/s. Perhaps check your hardware first. Your other account you use who is the provider? Also what are you trying to download on the uncapped? (protocol wise)

btw semaphore ...your arrogance offends me and I would strongly suggest you back off! As I said this is an OPEN forum and "MWEB" is here to answer FAQs and also all my comments are based on FACTS ....please go back and read all 88pgs of comments from other users

brad : The connection is bad?... really?

My connection is just fine barring the drops I'm having due to Telkoms carp old infrastructure in the area.

As for the whole childish thing... Saying someone is lying without having ANYTHING concrete to back it up is childish, and he didn't say having 384kb is stupid.. he said 384kb as a line speed is stupid and they should drop it.

As for the something worthy comment, the same applies to you.

Hi semaphore,

I'm sure you've noticed this is a Seacom issue affecting all providers. We are pressing them as hard as possible to come up with a permanent resolution.

What im curious about thou is, when seacom dies, why are we not routed via redundancy ?

semaphore....don't talk to me like i'm a new user....i've prolly been in the industry longer than you can spell your own name... i think at this point i'm just going to be quiet cos i might just say and do something that i am going to regret, get myself banned from this forum and have my IP address blackholed...again...

again?

So you're admitting that you're a previously banned user who has come here to stir again?

Valid question for Mweb: If you guys can reveal it, what kind of capacity does Mweb have on the international links out of this country btw?
