I'm not sure where you are gettting your torrents from, cause i battle to get over 100kbps even after hours, with nothing else downloading.
 
I used my home 384 Uncapped account as a test, but even though I disconnected it first, I still got taken to the MWEB "Too many concurrent connection" page. The account did authenticate though, and I managed to complete some random MWEB/Nielsen Survey as a test. It definitely appears to work fine, but I am just waiting for confirmation from MWEB - I just sent him a PM.
The MWEB sales and tech support have been pretty useless in confirming.

They simply give you a normal All Access account. So yes it should work and was confirmed with Telkom that you may use any ISP. It also says that a normal adsl account will work on Telkom's WiMax platform. :-)

Why not ask some one if you can connect to a mweb account. Ask Mweb for a test account. 512k accounts they gave out for free.

Anybody with an Astraweb account mind testing the ssl servers out. As of late I can't even connect to them anymore with my Mweb account. I can only connect to the non secure servers?

Don't know if its MWEB who blocked it or if its something else so any feedback will be appreciated.

What do you mean by "as of late"? I checked this morning before I left for work and I was still connected. I will check in later when I get home and give feedback.
 
Was still working fine for me as of last night - will check it out when I get home.

I definitely want the all in one, but then again its only a R20 saving to keep the line at Telkom in case they do bump the lines up

Also Mweb is selling an adsl router for R599, so i might just buy that from them or get the Intellinet from Esquire.

Everyone is mentioning the upgrades but i don't see how Telkom will make it free, they still need to turn a profit

Becareful if you buy a router from them, they lock it to mweb
 
Thanks. Just wanted to confirm if its a PC issue or not. Its been doing it for the last couple of days on the SSL servers.

What speeds are you guys getting on Astraweb on the 4meg account, I am only getting 100k.
 
I just signed up so uncertain about speeds, do you get 400k in the evening?

I am not sure what time ( I think about 12pm?) it really is unthrottled, but early this morning (around 6am) it was running at 350 KB/s.

This.

Getting a full 8kb/s on 384 right now. Last night I managed to hit 20kb/s once or twice, but it stayed at around 16kb/s for most of the night. Feels like I'm on ISDN again :|

Possibly related, but I havent been able to connect to any seeds on torrents the past two days, only other leechers. (heavily seeded torrents). Speeds are still okay-ish though. About 130kb/s at the moment. Cant get full speed since I cant connect to any seeds.

And the little green/red light showing the torrent's tracker statuses is always red now. Was always green until the other night, when i could get full speed. I thought it was possibly the trackers themselves but the different torrents i'm running use different trackers. All red.

Anyone else having similar issues with torrents maybe?
Or.. is anyone able to connect to a number of seeds?

I'm trialling a MWeb uncapped account for this month and I have to congratulate MWeb on this offering and their service. I don't really make much use of the account during the day (except on weekends) but speeds have been great during the evening and I even managed to watch a streaming rugby match last Saturday afternoon with very minor buffering. I phoned the help desk on Saturday morning regarding a query and the call center agent was actually able to assist me with my problem. It turned out to be a Telkom problem but he was very helpful in describing a few tests I could run to isolate the problem.

I carry a lot of respect for Afrihost for what they started with their R29/GB offering and it's great to see a company like MWeb also start a 'mini-revolution' with the service to back it up.

Edit: MWeb not MNet! :D
