So I like many jumped at the 'uncapped' propaganda, took the plunge etc. not that I download a huge amount of stuff but I would often run out of my 5Gig before month's end... What a mistake, before I went down the uncapped highway to hell I was enjoying download speeds of 150 to 250 kb/s (ok, these speeds were later at night, typically after 10pm, on my 512 line) but now (after being 'uncapped' for the last month) I don't get above 50 kb/s at any time during the day or night!! Thanks MWEB for the con of the year (thus far)

Sorry i am horribly confused here.

How were you enjoying speeds of 150-250kb/s on a 512 line? Why are you shocked you are getting 512 speeds from mweb on a 512 line? :D.

Bwahaha, there is no way in hell you were getting about your lines max speed of 52kb So you should be saying thanks MWEB for providing full line speed day and night! Pleb!

Are you using a 384/512k mweb account? Or is it a 4Mbps account? They have different packages, and the 384/512k account will be LIMITED TO MAX 52KB/s as you describe, DESPITE how fast your line is. So it sounds like you're complaining about something you should have known in the first place?

typical speeds on a 512 line should range between 200 to 400 kb/s people, do a search on line speeds for a 512 line...since when is 52 the max on a 512 line blaze??

@jos Which service provider were you with previously and what package were you running on?

On this forum, you need to specify whetther whether you mean kilobits or kilobytes. Many people use kb for both (even though you're supposed to use kB of KiB for kilobytes). If you're talking kilobits then you're original post makes more sense.

Well gee golly, I should be getting a whole lot more on my 4mb line than...

Are you talking KB/s a second here? Because if you are, there is no way in hell you will ever get 200KB/s on a 512K line it is mathematically impossible.

failthread

/nods
The whole thread is sending mixed signals with the kb/s and KB/s and whatnot.

For the peeps that dont know, kb/s or kbps == kilobits per second. KB/s or anything with a capitcal B, is bytes/ megabytes, etc.

384 line == <40KBps
512 line == <52KBps
4Mb line == ~<420KBps

oops, copied and pasted. Thanks Mike.

Wait what :confused: OP you fail. I'm on mweb and I get full line speed all the time. You doing something wrong. Please leave mweb. I'm sure they would be happier with one less stupid/grumpy customer.

oh my word, this thread is confusing- someone, somewhere, in this thread has no idea what they are talking about.
