MWEB Uncapped Speed Issues

Well, i have sent MWEB Guy a PM and will post the progress.

MegaXLR, where did you find the info on the shaping trials you mentioned?

Obviously something is going on based on the sudden changes in the last few weeks, nothing is confirmed by anybody but by reading between the lines from responses it is clear in my mind that there is some action ongoing by the engineers "tweaking" the system. Whether it's a specific project or backstops due to issues I would not know, additionally I have huge thumbs.

You can add me to the list of people who have had speed problems with mweb uncapped over the past 6 weeks - okay speeds on speed tests (though sometimes not ), but crap download speeds, except late at night - which seems very much like over-shaping/prioritising. In fact my problems began exactly when Seacom went down towards the end of March, during which time p2p and international was de-prioritised. In my case, it felt like the engineers had "forgotten" to remove the deprioritising on my account. I'm glad that I'm finding other people who are having the same problem; I've been trying to explain this to mweb and telkom over 6 weeks.

Regarding the comments about mweb guy : I'm in agreement also - he seems willing to help but has been quite ineffective; in my case i had to pm a few times asking how come he did not keep his promise to 'escalate' the problem to telkom, and eventually just gave up on the correspondence. At times i wonded if his presence on the site is merely a way of rapidly removing complaints about mweb: ie By saying PM me and I'll help you, and then delaying that 'help' for a week or more , that's one less complaint for a week. Or am i just being cynical here?

I'm adding myself to the list of dissatisfied customers.

0.36Mbps down on a 4MBit line???????? It's been like this for several days now!

I can appreciate that M-Web has a representative on here, but asking for people's details is merely trying to appear that you are actively doing something. It is clear that there is a problem that is affecting MANY users and has been for quite some time, and yet nothing ever seems to be fixed?

I'm givng this until the end of May, then I'm going to cancel. Stuff this.

Well to my utter amazement i received a call from MWEB 'to help clear things up' for me.

Firstly, it appears that MWEB Guy is a group of people that monitor and work through issues on the forums. it also appears that they have more knowledge that the helpdesk staff.

The basic answer that i got was that there is a problem of some sort that is effecting some of the uncapped account holders and it seems to be related to the speed upgrade that Telkom is Trialling ATM. These upgrades started about a week ago and the extra load on the exchanges is causing some problems.

The guy i dealt with has indicated that he will keep me informed of the progress and will let me know when everything is sorted, so let's see how things go.

Everyone that is experiencing HTTP problems, did it start about a week ago?

Everything started about the same time thats also when I, for the first timein years, started to use a news server again. What bad timing. I am glad you are at least getting somewhere for now.

Mweb will find any excuse to give you. If its not Telkom upgrading to 1mbps, its Seacom, if not seacom, its london, if not london, its seameweweweweww4, if not seameweweweweww4, equipment failure, if not equipment failure, its your exchange, if not your exchange, then its your line stats, if its not your line stats then..... you get my drift. I don't buy Mweb's excuses anymore. I am already making plans to cancel my account and move over to uncapped gold. I'v had enough of their crap. So long and good riddance!
