I have also just fixed the small bug with the proxy.

You guys may try it if the reboot doesnt work. The details are available when you log in to DownStorm.

Maybe give the proxy a go again?

Ya you should cancel with them, horrible getting 100-300gb a month with all this throttling going on.

Cancel so we can use your bandwidth :D. Afrihost is a great option :p

On a bit of an awesome note i pulled 10.3gb last night, Mweb suck badly, imagine 10.3gb a day OMG what am i thinking sticking with a company that offers so little :p

Killa right with you bud... Mweb is horrible, I mean my cost is now like 7 bucks a gig allin, "disgusting"

That's one I couldn't figure out yet, lets see if DownStorm can give us an answer... unfortunately it also looks like this might not help you either. I'm going to try a completely new download and see if mine is still going strong.

Downstream should be throttled along with other high use destination if they start hampering the performance of non-downloaders on the Mweb network. I myself am a heavy downloader and I;m close to 300GB this month but I have no problem if Mweb throttles any of my traffic to ensure other users are not affected by my downloading.

You would be happy having a 4MB uncapped line and not being able to download at speeds faster than 90KB/S?

At times I would really no mind if it went below 90kb/s and I am sure it has gone that low or lower a few times. Still I cannot complain because so far I have done 283160MB this month, which equals to an average of 130kb/s.

Let me put that into perspective for you in terms of something you can feel in your pocket. That 280GB is costing me R950 in total. If I wanted that at a guaranteed unshaped speed of 430kb/s I would have to cough up about 280GB * R70 = R19600

Now currently I am paying about 5% of that and I get about 33% of the total throughput if you want to look at it that way. I am sure if I have more to download I would have a higher average speed and a lower fraction of the cost compared to capped internet.

So - do you still feel that uncapped is a ripoff deal now ?

What do you guys get around this time with news? I'm using Astra, and get about 40kb/s on the mweb 4mb uncapped shaped account.

How is jumping to conclusions and putting words in my mouth working for you?

I did NOT say uncapped is a ripoff deal. However the company is starting to take the shaping to the extremes now. What use is an uncapped account if you cannot use it as such? I want to see you use over 200GB (heck 50GB, 10GB) from just plain and simple web browsing and no downloads.

That is what it seems this product is turning into to. Either that or MWEB are having issues. I do take it personally if my Windows updates are slower than they were on my 384K line

To me personally its the lack of transparency that makes it easy for them to change their tune like they do that irritates. Its worse than a woman that cant decide whether she's on PMS or menopause, either way the man is screwed and has to hide under the bed in the fetal position...but now im rambling.

In related news, does anyone know if the fileplanet downloader is being shaped or if it uses p2p? Because im getting rather slow speeds, erratic too.

On my account, all my .avi downloads are being shaped. It doesn't matter from which site I download from.

Mweb really have taken this to the extreme now! WTH!!!

I'll start worry once the percentage of what I would be paying for my traffic on capped accounts gets lower that the percentage of my average speed compared to full line speed.

Don't worry at this rate it will happen. FFS MWEB just be honest with us and tell us

Mweb have been very clear in my opinion, anything that negatively impacts the network during the day will be throttled/shaped. Now people are trying to get clever and find ways around it like http nzb's and downstorm type services, those will be shaped/throttled during office hours. Deal with it or move to another uncapped solution.

For me i care about the total i download not the speed.

As I've said - I don't mind a bit of shaping, even 100-200KB/s on my DOWNLOADs - as long as browsing stays at 4mb :)
