:D It was actually mainly used from BBS access before then - in the time when all the board where on 28.8kbps modems I had a 2.4kbps. This was back in 1996 and soon I saved up to get the most awesome 33.6kbps internal Zoltrix. I loved that modem, it was my first modem to go on the internet. Then it died when someone sent us a fax during a lightning storm and for a few months it was back to the old 2.4kbps.
 
I wonder why the MWeb Tech support guys who I have an open support ticket about this doesn't have a clue why my speeds are the way they are? What's actually going on here?

+ 1000. You and me both. I did close to 70gb on my 384 line last month while my friend on Afrihost got throttled at 10. MWeb is still value for money.
 
Just want to say top speeds on the 384kbps uncapped option. Signed up in August and no problems with full speed thus far..;) However customer service, specifically billing seems to be poor. No reply to 3 emails and called twice and was told someone would contact me.. No responce thus far...:rolleyes:
 
I have been a happy Mweb 384K uncapped user for nearly 2 months now. The speed is always great. No complaints from me about this service so far. I hope it keeps that way.

I have to say I agree with shanil1234 on their customer service/billing system being not awesome :/
 
@ gregmcc.. They probably heavily shaping you guys with your 4Mbps line and letting us small guys with our 384Kbps line have all the fun lol :p

MWeb has been doing a good job of convincing us to stay the hell away from 4mb uncapped service.
 
Have none of you figured out that everyone EXCEPT 4mb users seem to be happy?

Just had a small wobble now but i share an inet connection so it might have been someone on the line.

Other than that, i am still cruizing.

This 4mb uncapped is a joke. I don't even get 100kb/s during unshaped hours (which now seems to be after 1am in the morning)

8kB/s for p2p during the day? This IS A JOKE! WAKE UP MWEB OR I'M LEAVING.

18kB/s on p2p. So much for unshaped after 7... I think they changed it to unshaped after 4am.
 
Wow - I havent downloaded a week or so - and am struggling with a 900KB download on 4MB... two minutes.
