My router went 'click', the ADSL light stayed on but the PPP/Email light went off and I was then offline. Restarted the router. ADSL light eventually came on but PPP/Email light did not and I'm still offline. Router indicates "Attempting to Connect" and the diagnostics show the line is synced, but not connected. Suggestions?
How about giving the MWEB help desk a call
It sounds like an auth problem, but not necessarily a MWEB problem. Telkom might be busy breaking an exchange near you. I had something similar not too long ago, although I had no click from the router. Line synced fine, but could not get my dial-up to authenticate. Phoned Telkom, and they were busy with maintenance in my area.
Me too - 470 KB/s on NNTP.What a shame I cancelled.Woah are things flying. Bang on 5pm the shapings been switched off. Getting full nntp speeds!![]()

Whats your current usage for the month on mweb @erty
dunno, how does one check that.
Downloaded 860meg and uploaded 100meg since last night.
Currently, one download is active at 3kb/s
Browsing is slow but atleast it's manageable. Usually, the past few days, browsing has been very slow as stated in my first post. 5 min to load.
Still no response from Mweb except for the cancellation form they sent me.

My Mweb account is useless.
Have it since April.
Paid up till March.
I emailed mweb but received no reasonable response except that they are experiencing high volumes of email and they cannot help at the moment.
At first, the account was peachy; then gradually the shaping took effect.
Fine, atleast I could d/l at night. Sometimes it's 1gig, sometimes it 600meg etc
But these days, I cannot even browse to any website, DAY or NIGHT. If I am lucky, it will load gmail and facebook but still takes an eternity to load pictures and browsing is generally a pain. Kids can't play PS3 online, wife can't navigate to any website; I can't check on a parcel at the postoffice, it's just slow.
But the funny thing is, once you get a file's url to d/l it does it well.
The Mweb homepage takes 5 minutes to load.
Even browsing this website is tricky.
I am not getting anything in return for my monthly subs which was paid for one year in advance.
Cannot browse, ftp, d/l p2p, nothing except if I get the d/l url using a telkom account it will d/l the file for me at quick time once I switch back to mweb.
So I have logged on with a friend's Telkom account and it browses fast, like Mweb used to.
I am getting no feedback from Mweb except from someone at mweb who emailed me a cancellation form. That's service for you.
My needs are simple. Download way less than 30gig per month. Kids play online. Wife browses mostly google, news and shopping sites. Facebook and gmail, too. Sometimes youtube.
Please! Is there any other place I can open an account that offers uncapped internet?
I've worked it out, Sabrewolfy is always happy with MWEB because he only has a 384 account. Not hard to get full speed on that.
