I logged my fault anyway with Telkom. Hope my problem gets sorted. so what is the progress from here. How will I let MWEB know that Telkom did check my line etc?

Quick question for people who can think logically.... if "MWEB" is not the problem why are all problems resolved by changing to a backup account at WebAfrica / Afrihost etc... I have been watching the forums... and most people can resolve their issues with a pre-paid credit card purchase to another ISP... (REALLY NOT IDEAL / FUN / FAIR) but that does prove the problem lies with MWEB not TELKOM. Whoooaaaa... never thought I'd ever not give telkom the fault... weird times...

Exactly Sidia, exactly.

Maybe it's none of them, maybe its your setup or system. Lots of speculation going on and no first hand experience. But what do you know, kids today think they know it all, most of them are Google fundi's and keyboard operators that suddenly make them IT experts, yet they in reality know nothing and do nothing but play or post on the net.

Hope you not talking about me cause I can assure you I did network support for a BIG government company that I can't mention. My contract expired and due to the fact that the company was bought over they couldn't let me stay. I worked with WAN link so no one can BS me. I also worked with Cisco devices

Well I can add to that... what use is UNSHAPED if you can't even play wow with a decent latency?... and end up buying more Prepaid from WA.

I mentioned no names, do not be so sensitive, if Mweb do not service your needs try an alternative. I have very few issues with Mweb, I only hate the slow news server.

So I guess being a Performance Testing Engineer makes me a noob then?

It is simple diagnostic reasoning applied to come to a conclusion that the MWEB network is worse than the WA network. (And yes MWEB moves accross SEACOM where my WA account moves across SAIX)... in the end I am still a customer paying for a service I am not being delivered.

Also I think were moving in the 1 month since I last used MWEB to play wow with as it is totally untrustworthy...
Another simple piece of "disturbing" evidence...

Using a UNSHAPED UNCAPPED account... works well certain times of the day... then bang 300kb/s goes down to 150kb/s... change network tada... problem solved. IE SHAPING on UNSHAPED account... now to find the proof on the network somehow.

Other options... have not done as much research as I would have liked but to my knowledge there is nobody else advertising Unshaped Uncapped below R3000pm... Openweb's is a shaped service. But would love to be corrected on this point as ... MWEB is just not working for me.

What about the connection from the exchange upstream? This will not be the same for each ISP. So you will follow a different route if you connect from your home to MWEB or from your home to another ISP, AFAIK.

Everyone frequenting on MyBB by now know that SAIX accounts are better, faster, more reliable than the other recently established fibre backbone's, therefore they are more expensive, also because Telkom have the monopoly there. Your best bet is just to move on. Simple as that.

After reading some of the posts, I'm having doubts of joining mweb uncapped adsl. Which other Isp would you prefer over mweb for uncapped adsl?

All I can say is, PLEASE STOP SHAPING THE GODDAMN WOW PORTS. Its the most irritating thing that I cant play properly during the day or even at night time before 1 am. Only after 1 am does my latency drop to playable levels. It never used to be like this. WoW uses maybe 250mb a night if raiding and using ventrilo, its not like im a goddamn bandwidth hog. There is enough WoW players in this country using Mweb Uncapped for you to seriously consider not shaping port 3724TCP which is what WoW uses. I understand your reasoning for shaping P2P but why the F would you shape WoW ports? It USES NEXT TO NO BANDWIDTH! Please help your WoW players using your service, it would be much appreciated. Currently I am getting a totally unstable unreliable ping between the range of 300-400ms WITH packet loss. So your shaping is even causing lost packets? Best shaping program in the world! Please fix this.

P.s I had a 189 ms ping to WoW last night with mweb at 2:30 am. It is possible, just do it please.

And this would leave it in MWEB's territory to sort out... Lets think further than one link please.

From what I have seen others are using the same upstream provider as well... Afrihost / Openweb? and they are happy?

I know NNTP is being shaped, but am I the only one who can't even connect?

I am still trying to understand why some people think its wrong to "complain" about service you receive? Why bash people who are unhappy... I can promise if you were in the same position you would also be unhappy... or is this the New South Africa... bad service is OK ... if it is not effecting me...

Just my 2cents:
Line goes off and online but I belive it's not a MWEB related fault.
Secondly, the line seems very slow at times despite not downloading much during the month:/

what speeds are you guyd getting on NNTP atm? I use a combination of Mweb and paid for Astraweb servers. (4 meg uncapped)

Yup, it just makes me so angry when ppl tell you to stop complaining on a thread made for issues like this. Hell people, if you dont have any problems, dont come here and tell others to stop complaining. Its hard already, im frustrated to the max, feels like my house has been broken into and my pc stolen. Remember, we are paying them for a service, its not like we are getting it for free.

DAY 10!!! http://www.speedtest.net/result/1289634977.png, well, this just confirms it, mweb don't seem to care this time. Every time there has been problems they seem to resolve it quickly, this time it's different. I'm such a huge mweb fanboy, mostly because they always seem to put the customer first, this is the first time I feel mweb truly doesn't care and I did give mweb guy everything he asked for yesterday and still he has not come back to me.
