Is Mweb unshaping the shaped accounts at night? I am playing WoW with battleping at the moment and with my Webafrica unshaped account I get 185 ms to England. Earlier last night I was playing on my Mweb Uncapped shaped account and was getting 255 ms to England Battleping Server, now at 2:30 im getting 189 ms to England Battleping on my Mweb Uncapped Shaped account. I almost had to double check I was logged in with my Mweb Account :P If you are doing this, is it possible to start it a bit earlier in the evening for gaming ports and later for Torrents? Gaming uses a lot less bandwidth than Torrents so if this preference is shown only in the early hours of the morning is it maybe not possible to not shape the Gaming ports after 7pm instead of 1am etc. This is really awesome and I am amazed to see such a low ping with my Mweb Account to these servers. Thanks!
 
Yeah I think this is how it's working.

News server is now shaped during the day to hell and gone. Like the IS one is.
Torrents 24hour shaping.
HTTP - Shaping also because anything off filehippo is slow sometimes
SA Youtube, buffers.

So, shaping it is if you ask my opinion.

Going to ask Openweb for a test account and if it's HALF decent, bye bye MWEB.
 
LOL, mweb called me yesterday to discuss the issues I have been having with NNTP and they were to call me back today after I was to run some tests. Didn't get around to it last night, got up at 0dark30 this morning, and bam...no NNTP at all.

so do I mess with the guy and say i still got the problem and they need to sort themselves out or do i mention that i couldn't test due to SEACOM *Evil Grin* :)

I think it's got to do with Telkom bumping 512k users to 1mb and then lowering 10mb users to 6mb. Their equipment can't handle it. And AFAIK the 384k and 512k DSLAM was shared (if you were 1mb or higher it was on a different set of DSLAM's)

My guess is they increased the speed on the old DSLAM's which is running both 384 and (the new) 1mb and now people are suffering.

Speed is still crap FYI, I just hope I can get my work done and go to bed before 2am...

Its not Telkom, its not seacom, its not anyone except Mweb thats to blame. HTTP downloads are going full speed Acidrazor. So its not telkom or the line. Viper also has the same issues. See what they do thou, we having serious issues and instead of replying to us, they spit in our faces by talking and replying to other ppl about games. FU
 
This past night instead of the usual 400kb/s I got 12kb/s so I am wondering what broke? Seems to have improved now to 30kb/s.
 
Just a quick update Seacom carried out emergency fibre repairs and service was restored approximately 30 minutes ago.

Still only getting 30KB/s on news servers;

edit: Sorry up to 60KB/s now (Afrihost running full speed)
 
Terrible ,Terrible connection of recent get erratic speeds, can barley do decent browsing... definitely not what I signed up for.... dissapointed.

Well, despite the hiccup with SEACOM last night, I'm a happy camper for the moment.

Who knows why I ever bought a Belkin router in the first place... but since I jazzed up the firmware I've not had the same DNS and Latency issues I was citaging about last week. Belkin (and the sharks at Incredible) sold this junk that would cause endless headaches to any ISP! If only the device webpage had told the truth much earlier.

The crux of the problem was the routers inability to deal with multiple open connections, close them and reallocate. Fixed now, long may it last! I moved my cheese to Belkin Products on FB.

Now I can give feedback here more accurately once again.
 
I can confirm steam is working again. thanks MWEB. Also newsserver is really fast. Getting speeds of 200KB/s now

ok will do. everything else is working fine. Torrents, newsservers, other gaming services, youtube, voip is working fine only Black ops having issues. How do you explain that. To my understanding how can noise only affect one thing. seems like you must get the **** out of here. I'm just angry cause people think I'm stupid but I have worked with wan links and know how these stuff works sort of. but any person can see that this is not a Telkom issue.

I'm not the only one experiencing the Black ops issue. as we are speeking my downloads is going at a steady 200KB/s and not a single drop in connection. Can we please get some more answers as to what is going on. If you guys can get Telkom in this week to come and check my LINE for me I will be happy to help. Even Telkom said there is not alot of noise on the line. The router seems fine.

I hate people acting as if I'm a total moron.

I'm getting very poor speeds on HTTP downloads with speeds ranging between 30 - 60 KB/sec on all of those. The speeds drop constantly. This is with no other simultaneous downloads. I used to get around 120 KB/sec on most HTTP downloads - sometimes even slightly over 400 KB/sec.

I am on 4096kbps Uncapped.

This is very frustrating to say the least.
