East London speeds good as always. :p Maybe we're just so small it's hardly noticeable for mweb. :D

mweb gamezone 200KB/s
nvidia.com driver download 67KB/s

this after leaving my modem off for 25 minutes

News server running at about 17kb/s. Web feels very sluggish on local and international sites. Even News24.com takes a while to load.

First speed test timed out after the ping of 94sec. The second run trhough, but not what you would expect on a 1mb line.

Sorry, another edit with speedtest to london.

These were done with no downlaods running or anyone browsing.

you are one of the few that are not experiencing problems for the last 2 weeks. so maybe you should not tell me how i should react.

Guys please I understand that some of you are frustrated, but if you have a complaint and you don't allow MWEB guy to do his job and gather the necessary data that we need to get the matter investigated then we have very little chance of assisting.

For everyone experiencing problems, regardless of how similar you may think they are, we need the following information:

We need to know where you are
We need to check your Telkom line conditions (I'm sorry but this is a non negotiable troubleshooting step - I have seen far too many cases of "it works fine with my other isp" that were eventually resolved by good old fashioned line problems being fixed)
We need to check for Telkom congestion on your exchange/DSLAM (again non-negotiable)
If we have after these steps firmly established that the fault lies on the MWEB network we need to gather as much data as possible about the nature of the problem you have. Is it related to Youtube? Downloads? p2p non p2p? time of day, time of week? etc etc.

Believe me I sympathize with all of your frustration, but no amount of general complaining, or starting petitions is going to give me the solid data that I need to escalate your concerns and have them addressed.

Ok,

I have done some more testing. Did 3 speedtests. One to Midrand, one to London and one to San Francisco. All of them came in at over 3meg. However, I can't stream even 240p on youtube. Any download outside of SA comes down at around 20k/sec. My ping to the midrand speedtest server is around 20ms. The tech support guy said that my line has been tested and is ok. All indications support this. I am not a heavy user. In the year or so that I have been on this 4meg account I have maybe torrented 15gig. I do watch starcraft 2 streams from Korea, at 360p, and other starcraft streams at 480p, and sometimes 720p.

However, as of a month ago this has become impossible, except between the hours of 2am - 6am. I had in the past recommended Mweb to a couple of my friends who have signed up and have also been quite happy with the service, until 3-4 weeks ago. Now we are all paying for 4meg but receiving a product somewhere between 384 and 512. even when playing online games like Starcraft 2 the quality has deteriorated and become very choppy.

I am still waiting for the 'engineers' to get back to me after doing extensive troubleshooting with the tech support guy. I will wait until Wednesday morning at the latest and then I will cancel my subscription with Mweb for good. They are taking us for a ride. I have paid R540 for the last month and received the same product as someone paying R219.

I am not irate, however I cannot justify the cost if there is no difference. Any sort of acknowledgement of a problem or feedback from Mweb would help immensely...

So how exactly does it work when the line is faulty and it works 100% with Telkom and not at all with MWEB ? And can you give us some examples of the many cases you know of ?
I still have my Mweb uncapped account but it's unusable. I have no problems with my Telkom ISP account whatsoever.
Do you suspect that my line is faulty ?

Hi Will

Ill give you access to 2 computers on my network tomorrow,
one on a Mweb account, and the other on Afrihost

ill even give telkom a call and ask them to do a line reset

will, you clearly do not understand. its obvious u dont. people are now paying R539 pm to spend their time troubleshooting your problems. we know its mweb because testing other isps prove that. the problems started ever since u installed that device in london. please for the love of all good things, realise that its an mweb problem, and not an individual problem. if it was one guy conplaining, fine, asking ur questions for troibleshooting. but when u see a whole forum complain, realise that its an mweb problem.

omg, if will responds to this and still think there is a problem with all our lines, then there is no hope.

I love the response. So you say you aren't aware of any problem on mweb's side? All these accounts have massive problems and you are clueless. That's what you are saying. Now I'm really feeling confident in your service.
Anyhow if this isn't resolved or there's some kind of response by Wednesday also cancelling. Downloading a 100MB http file - ets 3 hrs. That's slower than a 384 account. Will you rebate me for the last week I've been having a 384 account? I'm guessing no...

You guys can check for congestion from your side? If so can you check mine? I've logged a fault with Telkom 11th May, they still have not fixed anything, and they are not calling me back. MWEB Guy has my details if you need it.

Requim

yeah i dont see how my afrihost account can run at 1100KB/s if my Telkom DSLAM is congested,
maybe im just a noob here lol

Hmmm. I have an idea....

That London thing you installed like a month ago, throw it away. Watch that fix everything.

In saying that, my problem was there for a bout a week, and it's happy browsing/downloading etc for me :-)

Maybe coz MWEB is testing my line they giving me superior speeds ;-)

yeah, it seems as if mweb have forgotten how tech savvy we are and they treats us like morons????

We need to know where you are

It's happening to many people around the country

We need to check your Telkom line conditions

If it is happening to alot of people, I doubt it's everyone's line conditions.

We need to check for Telkom congestion on your exchange/DSLAM

Again, if it is happening to alot of people, I doubt everyone's DSLAM is congested.

Is it related to Youtube? Downloads? p2p non p2p? time of day, time of week? etc etc.

Seems to be everything not a specific thing.

Just started a 8GB torrent.speed is at 100kb/s.thats better then my http downloads that are running at 10kb/s LOL.
