mweb news server don't work with altbinz and hardly on grabit(yes i know for most guys it, work it refuses to work for me) , if using one of those 2 usenet downloaders, you need use sabnz, what i am using for my downloads , and you can upload rar files direct ,no need extract them :P

Mweb news server works for me using Altbinz... due to me not been able to connect to astraweb at all now.. its the only news server I can use..

Well I am on a business uncapped 4096 package that I get through HostWorx. I pay R569 for lower contention ratios and that has been the case for the 10 months that I have been using this account........until the past 2 weeks or so. I would want to ask WILL@MWEB to pm to him my details but not sure if that would help at all. I have done that with MWEB guy and to several people at the call centre and still no real answers or feedback......other than making sure I understand that I downloaded 170GB for May. Yeah? So what, thats about average for this type of account I would think.

Take them to court. You simply CANNOT have a situation where a mere ISP dictates to you what they think is fair for your business. As if they even know your business !

Looking at mweb network problems.

My local access seems fine,, Local websites, mweb news server all connect fine.. it as soon as you connect to an international server .. the connection goes to dies.

http downloading

Full line speed downloading local, 60k a second downloading international http..

News servers

around 40k on mweb news (local) - does not connect on astraweb (international)

Will or Mweb guy - any eta when this is gonna be sorted out

I do have a support ticket open..

i dont think their network engineers realize that deep packet inspection increases the time a packet takes to travel through their london dc.

Its doing its job, just slowly. DPI is more for businesses, not whole ISP's imo.

This is why you are seeing great speeds from 1am-7am, as there is minimal congestion on the device then( I.e. no queueing of packets to get inspected)

Hmm im not a tech guy but this post kinda makes sense. Would like to hear what Mweb thinks about this post and if this rings true.

and on another note:

Videos that would take seconds to load before now take minutes.

It's sad really. MWEB used to be really good and then things started going pear shaped in the beginning of the year and then in May rapidly plummeted to this throttled-hell.

I want to give them a chance but how many 2nd chances should one give before it's enough? I'm tired and frustrated and I just want the product that I pay for. The MWEB reps claim that this new shaping system improves quality of service but I haven't seen a single happy soul since these apparent "improvements". Off-peak hours used to be between 7 pm - 7 am. Then it drastically changed to a tiny 4 or 5 hour window in the very early hours of the morning when most people are sleeping anyway (no, not sneaky at all, MWEB). Now, even HTTP is being throttled like crazy! W.T.F. It is now a chore to download files from popular file hosting services like Megaupload and Rapidshare - I download at a QUARTER of the speed I used to download all because they are apparently considered P2P services. Youtube videos buffer more than they play. I only manage 30 KB/s on direct HTTP downloads from other HTTP sites (that can in no way be considered P2P).

Customers get told not to speed watch on a daily basis if they manage to download a certain amount in a given month - which is the biggest bull**** I've read. Customers are downloading considerably less than what they're used to and who is MWEB to say that it's satisfactory. MWEB is not the customer here! Uncapped should be u-n-c-a-p-p-e-d. If there's a download limit (*rolls eyes*) with regards to the fair use policy, make us aware of the limit!

Even though it still had a way to go to reach international standards, MWEB was well on it's way to getting there and it was the best ISP. Now it's quickly becoming one of the most frustrating ISPs and is far off from international standards.

I could deal with all the Seacom outages (as annoying as they were) but this is a whole new level of infuriating.

How about MWEB convert all these "uncapped" packages to 200gig packages and shape less?

How about they remove that London shaper thing they installed? That seemed to rattle everyone's cages and they fail to see it's a shaper.

In true mbeki style: shaper ? what shaper ?

Speed tests to the london server been crappy, yet to see something decent...

Besides all of that, the damn MWEB page for upgrading accounts is nonsense!

I use thesame details I use to log onto the net via PPPoE and it tells me wrong username and password... and it also loops that "Signmein" window thing? So I can't retrieve my MWEB log in details.... :wtf:

Why I need two seperate log in's just baffles me. Stupid. Axxess is much easier!

Hi Adrenalin,

Please ensure that you are using your email address and password to login to the "My Account" section, not the PPPoE username and password.

MWEB Guy

Hi MagicDude4Eva,

Please can you PM me your MWEB Business account details and I will escalate this to our Business Department to look into. I will also get them to contact you.

Regards,
MWEB Guy

Why don't you just make that line your signature ? It will save you typing the same thing over and over again.

Yeah see... I got the whole concept of how a password etc works.

I can get onto the site with my gmail address and stuff, then? I need a different one to login to the upgrade thing? Log on with my @dslmweb email huh... well, what if i FORGOT the password to that? There is no recover password option there is there?

Hi Adrenalin,

There is a "Forgot Password" option if you forget your password. Once you click on the link, it will ask you for email address and send you the password.

Ok, maybe you need to slow down and i need to explain better...

First, I go to the left hand side of the page to the little yellow box that says LogIn, and I can successfully log in to my account. Then when I try access my MWEB email, it's constantly loops a "SignMeIn" window on both FireFox and IE. Don't know why.

When I go to upgrade account (from 384k to 1mb) it gives me 3options.

New Client (Nnoooo)
Existing account (YES)
SMS Code or something (Nnoooo)

Click on existing account, and it asks me to loginwith my PRIMARY MWEB email account. Now because I never use it, I have no idea what the password or email is!

Nevermind... I will call the call centre and get them to do it with my ID Number.
