Thanks

i'm also running like clockwork, dont wanna jinx it though!

p2p is running at a solid 0.6 kB/sec on a 4 meg line, http downloads run at 80-100 kB/sec :-( reckon it is time to fill in the cancellation form....

Hi DeadCore,

Have you tried refreshing your ADSL connection? How many PC's are active to the router? Please send me your MWEB account details and I'll investigate further.

Kind regards,

MWEB Guy

working fine now,was most likely the speed brake that happens between 5PM and 8PM every day.

I can't download torrents from TPB. Not the data itself, just the damn .torrent file. It just times out. Not the first time this has happened. Sigh, will just download it with another ISP account.

Can't you use the magnet link?

Having the same issue.

The magnet link won't let me choose which files in the torrent I want to download, and I don't wanna download the whole thing. Maybe I'm doing something wrong?

Edit: I'm using uTorrent.

Iirc, start the whole thing downloading, then you can go into the 'files' (or something similar) tab in utorrent and cancel the bits you do not want.

I've done it before.

More to the point, why the hell are we not able to download torrent files in the first place? It's not like they work anyway. :p

I tried that but it shows that there are no files at all in the torrent. No size or anything. Yet it downloads something :P

Hello MWEB Bot :)

Weekend is still kicking for me, we've been having it! La la. K no more BS: ya, weekends are smooth sailing. MWEB Guy, Will and Rudi should come to Festival and lookie on my interwebs at day light hours during the week though... PS, send Rudi an e-mail to say get some more WACS bandwidth before people throw .torrents at MWEB.

Also, try rebooting your router... but LEAVE MY INTERNET ALONE now that its working!

gruh.... Three o clock in the morning and my connection STILL sucks. Could barely get online last night and I decided to go to bed, instead of smashing my router with a hammer.

This is so frustrating. One moment I'm getting 350k/s and the next moment this site doesn't even want to load. I give up.

Ok. So here is my problem.

I have a 4meg Mweb uncapped account as well as a capped 4meg account from Telkom. For the past few months it has been very slow to unusable on both accounts, whereas before I was receiving full speeds There have been times, normally early in the morning, where I od get full speeds, but those times are getting less and less. I contacted Telkom, but they cant find anything wrong. So now I am trying here.

I did a speed test to the Mweb Cape Town speedtest server this morning...(this is a typical result)

Last Result:
Download Speed: 452 kbps (56.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 430 kbps (53.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: -1 ms

My router stats show...

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 4096 kbps 512 kbps
Line Attenuation 5.0 db 1.5 db
Noise Margin 27.1 db 13.0 db

Personally I suspect a problem at the exchange/dslam - or its just over subscribed. Interesting the Telkom ADSL availabity checker shows that there is infrastructure related problems in my area and they cannot offer an ADSL service at this time - but its been saying that for years and I have been receiving full speed in that time.

Any info will be appreciated

does indeed look like congested exchange if , you will have to wait for the exchange to become a 10mbit exchange, then it will have fiber going to the exchange, then it will have more bandwidth going to it :)

...here is your trouble shooting picture. This is nice view with powered by mweb after clicking Create Champion.

It is mweb that is ****ed, I get the same result on both my computers here. As soon as I tunnel/proxy the traffice via CO's proxy setting it works instantly, but when it is as it should be normally nothing. Switch over to webafrica and no issues.

Mr Mweb Guy, Get steam Get champions on line and sort the problem out. I'm definitely cancelling come first July and I can't play CO normally without having to babysit mweb's traffic and DNS to avoid horrid shaping and DNS problems.

:e
Had mayor issues yesterday with global agenda's account page. Just timed out or is VERY slow and I had to register via my webafrica pre-paid.

Thanks for all the information, I am escalating this to our game master to do some testing.

Kind regards, MWEB Guy

Fix yet? or do I start printing the form? Another person I know had exact same issue with mweb yesterday and had to play via proxy/tunnelling as well. I'm beginning to get the distinct point of view that mweb uncapped is not gaming friendly. In fact this seems to be true:

A) In the beginning of mweb uncapped - person here or there has an issue, mweb supporters comes in, the mweb rep comes in and it gets fix fast and good.
B) Time now goes along - persons have an issue, the mweb rep comes in and it gets fixed along the line.
C) Currently - persons have issues, the mweb rep comes in, repeats same line, nothing gets done without throwing a tantrum and getting an article on it.

I know I can download and surf with uncapped, but I would like to use it for other things as well as gaming which still seems that the only option is to either get a unshaped account or tunnelling service cause at mweb DNS and shaping is now done in relation to the draconian and broken methodology of Afrihost's shaping.

Openweb are having a special on their GOLD accounts at the moment. I recommend you give them a try.

Hi Neuro,

Please can you PM me your Mweb account details in order for me to look into your account on our side. I will be able to provide you feedback once I have investigated further into this.

MWEB Guy

Hi Prophet,

Your query regarding Champions Online has been escalated and is with our team. I have requested for feedback and as soon as we have information, we will inform you thereof.

MWEB Guy

Dear MWEB Guy - still waiting for a response from my ticket/call with your engineer. I have given up on surfing the web and will cancel my month-2-month. Needless to say I will make use of the CPA as the product you advertise is not a broadband product and not fit for purpose - as such I will also claim back any funds spent.

Yes - the above is right - over the last 24 hours, my throughput peaked at 60KB/sec and currently trickles in at 9-12KB/sec (all HTTP traffic). It is pointless to use SSH/FTP to do any work, as sessions just time out.

Code:
$ ping mweb.co.za
