I started using mweb for the first time last night. I also got speeds of ~130KB/s from astraweb at about 8-9pm. Somewhere during the night it must have went a lot faster cos this morning I checked the download and the average speed was 350KB/s.

What I also dont like though about mweb is that they gave me a 41.x.x.x ip address and I'm guessing it's a private ip cos I couldn't open my web page on my home pc from my phone like I always could with my axxess account which gave me a 196.x.x.x ip.

The 41. range is a routable IP address, and is part of the block owned by Telkom and reserved for DSL subscriber bases since they provide you with your DSL infrastructure. It is fully routable from the internet, so it would not explain why you could not see your home PC.

This is really bad :( My downloads were timing out and/or going slowly all throughout the night...

Its going to be really interesting watching this unfold. It seems a MWeb base subscribers have joined us on the uncapped, whether thats a good move for them or not remains to be seen. Surely though before those people were migrated MWeb would have provisioned the additional bandwidth? I mean, come on! Thats a huge amount of additional people on a new service!

Hope we are not going to be raped again by ISP's in regards.

I will double-check it later tonight when I get home, but I'm pretty sure it's not going through.

Guys, there are a number of people posting how bad the service is. Has anyone here got the opposite? Can a few people post that their service is running quick?

There is no fair use policy as yet published by Mweb ... or am I wrong ... anyone else have sum some info on this?

How much are we allowed to download without being labeled abusive? Not sure if I've done anything wrong in the last few days and maybe being punished for this?

The shaper is still in over drive as port 119 is heavily throttled. I dont do http but Rapidshare is also almost dead.

:mad: :confused::(

I got the Uncapped 384 yesterday and I'm sufffering from serious buyers remorse. Throttling is one thing but my Rapidshare download speed is under a Kb!! Dail-up would be faster!!

Running nice dude, everything works nicely during day apart from nzb's torrents and rapidshare. So if you can live with downloading at night only then ya it's all good i reckon.

during the day, you might as well not download!, Speads are so so slow!

I'm at work now will let u know when I get it done.

Well, to be honest, it looks like you can only download at night otherwise they throttle you heavily, otherwise everything else works perfectly.

I was downloading an nzb at 6pm yesterday and although it wasn't at full speed (~400KB) it was still ~80KB which is actually quite alright considering that with axxess I only get ~30KB during the day. (axxess express)

Quick question - I'm currently using Axxess 512K unshaped. I play things like Dawn of war II and Supreme Commander 2 online - Will the Mweb unshaped account be fine for Downloading games on steam (like 10GB a month) as well as playing games in the evenings (after 7 ?).

Yeah, I recently formatted my PC. I installed Steam yesterday but I realized I forgot to backup my data files, so I put it to the test. I downloaded Counter-Strike this morning @ full speed. Playing games is a breeze, I get reasonable pings (50-80ms) in both CS and CoD4.

That's all local right - what about international pings ?

If you're talking about WoW, I get about 350ms-400ms on my realm. As for CS/CoD4 internationally, I don't know, I only play on local servers.

where do you play CS? CS1.6 or which CS?

Counter-Strike: Source. I don't play much, only now and then when I get bored with WoW. I just pull a filtered list from the game itself with low latency and play on populated servers. Usually there's only 2 that are active these days.
