i tried that with CS1.6, but could not get place to join. just clans and a bunch of bastards that did not want a new guy to join. will try source sometime.
 
Just checked my PC, tested it (remotely) downloading a NZB and getting 8KB/s.
Downloaded a file from Microsoft's web site, getting 35KB/s.

I feel like I've gone back to Neotel! :mad:

Have you tested anything else? They said quite clearly they are shaping certain protocols during the day, if you are unhappy with 8kb/s during the day then cancel the service, i line all my stuff up and open grabit at 7, come back in the next morning and all is downloaded. Could not care less if i cannot download during the day.

Websites, http downloads, youtube, email all running 100%.

I hear you, and you are correct, I shouldn't expect my downloads to go during the day.
Youtube didn't work for me this morning, browsing (haven't really tested) but general downloads (like Winzip) struggles, I can't test a game, but I"m guessing that won't work.
 
Something must be wrong dude, post a speedtest please.

Youtube is flying for me and gaming is working 100%.
 
lol, you know, were all bitching about the 119 stuff and torrents etc, im angry too, while streaming video via winamp and listening to podcasts lol, this is actually pretty freaking amazing! I keep thinking "omg stop this your cap is going to run out..." Scars of the past :( Its almost like a new internet lifestyle if you aren't capped... weird....
 
ive been using Mweb 512k uncapped since yesterday for my general stuff at work, with a youtube video streaming/download and i get full speed all the time. Last night at home speeds overall was good except on astraweb....go 20kb/s max

If it were that simple I wouldn't be complaining. I'm an existing (capped 4Mbps) user, and everything I do during the day, from SMTP e-mail to local HTTP (SA weather) seems to be throttled to 30KByte/sec during the daytime.

Thats about what i'm getting right now on a 512k with MWeb (on torrents). My curiosity is killing me, surely your throttle should be much higher than mine?
 
Rapid share is running! They are throttling it however, getting around 35kbps-45kbps. Can anyone else confirm this? How about news servers?

I'm plain gatvol of this shaping ... Will see tonite if it persists.
 
has anybody seen any download speed improvments? i am talking rapidshare, newservers, P2P? i do not mind the shaping during peek hours, but shape, do not kill us. or at least make it that every night at 8 the taps get opened. What you guys think?
 
Torrents and news are going really badly! They go for about a minute and come down to 0.

What he said. Please Mweb, open it after 6 or 8. Doesn't matter.
