I think he is asking about the uncapped UNshaped accounts, not the uncapped shaped ones. The R539 account you quote is the 4Mb/s uncapped shaped one, I'm guessing?

Yes, that's exactly what I'm asking about.

My main use will be for gaming, and I'm willing to spend the extra bucks to esnure I won't be pulling my hair out in frustration. (ALso, I'm one of the main healers for my guild in WoW, so low latency is a must :P)

My question still stands: Do the MWeb UNSHAPED accounts work as advertised?

Hi, i have signed up today and all is up and running, browsing is gud but the thing is im downloading from rapidshare now at 70-80kb per second, i have a 4mb account, this is a bit schocking for a first time user is this what i am going to expect from now on?

I think so... wait till later tonight, then it goes faster....

Dell_fan, the speeds you are getting on RS are consistent with speeds on other shaped protocols (at least on my side). After a while you will get used to the MWEB shaping policies and realize late night downloading, just got later. Generally things speed up around 11PM again, and then TURBO from about 2 30AM.Trust me though, its still possible to far exceed 300GB in a month.

bit dissapointed so far tho, was expecting it to be bit faster than this. not so keen on downloading stuff at 2:30 in the mornings

Thats why you use a download manager for if the line disconnects or anything and you can start downloading now and keep it running till its done overnight...

yup im using a download manager connected to my rapidshare account, jdownloader. Will test the account through late tonight and see how it is

Mweb ADSL is CRAP!!!, so let me save you some time, dont use it.
You will buy a 4 Meg account but get just over 38K download speed. and when you call then they are very quick to blame your telkom line.

In my case i did a complete local and international download test, with telkom. I have prove that MWeb cannot provide a 4 Meg adsl solution.
I have cancelled my account, been with MWeb for 6 Hours now.

Utterlry DISGUSTED. I hate their damm sales talk " Oh Yes sir,you will get 4 Meg download speed, we dont use I.S anymore, are now use Seacom and Sat3" Ohh helll, help us.... BULL!!!

Would I be correct in saying: South Africa's uncapped accounts have all the characteristics of a drunk girl on a mechanical bull ??

Super experience last night, 200Kb/s between 23H00 and 01H00, speeds exceeded 380Kb/s between 01H00 and 04H30, 04H30 to 06H00 things dropped to less than 80Kb/s (I suspect I ran out of well seeded stuffs) and then up to 130Kb/s between 06H00 and 07H00 - queued downloads completed: 11.25GB in a 24 hour period, majority of downloads queued for after hours.

Will everyone that complains please sign up for AfricaHost uncapped - it will change you.

The way I see it I am paying R950 per month for connectivity up to 4mbps. Every time I check it there does seem to be connectivity and I have seen download speeds up to 4mbps so there is nothing wrong with it. Even after downloading 300GB I still see the two things I have paid for. Sure it sometime goes slower but then again, its a sub R1000 uncapped account - what the hell do you expect ?!

So again I repeat, if you are not happy with Mweb go sign up with AfriHost - it will change you.
