MWEB Uncapped Subscribers Feedback

Oh don't worry I have had MWEB busy sorting out my account for the last two weeks. Apparently it is receiving the necessary attention. My account is interesting, some nights you can download and others you can watch youtube or even surf the web. But I cannot expect to do both on the same thing (no not at the same time) as it seems its only one or the other.

07:30 the next day and my international speeds are still shocking...

Their support desk is going to give me a call after 08:00 to try and figure out what's going on.

Anybody else experiencing this on a 4Mbit account? Perhaps more people reporting in on the issue will help them figure out the pattern behind the cause.

These are the issues I am having.

Sigh.

Has extremely high packet loss even though my line stats are fine.

Just called Telkom now to ask then to set my port speed to 3meg to see if it helps.

Sigh.

Speedtest on Mweb shows a ping of 464ms. On the SAIX link they provide to test telkom it is 61ms.

Love em or hate em, the fault clearly lies with MWEB.

Thank you so much for this bit of info.

Been with Afrihost for 3 months now. All was ok until the soccer started - used to get 3.35Mbps on my uncapped 4096 line, now for about 6 - 8 hours a day I'm getting connection speeds of 79 kbps !!!!!!!

Thanks MWEB, just had Telkom phone me. I assume you guys put them in touch with me. Although they can't really do much as its only my MWEB 4MB Uncapped shaped account that gives me issues.

Same speed tests here, been going like this the whole day on a 4mb line.

Fun times!

Thats if it chooses to connect in the first place. Even browsing is impossible.

Is MWEB international on a different shaping policy from local?

So if the international link is heavily congested, will local sites still load fast, or will the entire link be congested?

I had ping problems with local game pings (css) ,but then over the weekend it was fine (when consultant contacted me xD) and now in afternoons it is okish (90-120) and during day (200-300) and I have noticed several other mweb users having similar high pings during day.
So it seems that Mweb is now definitely shaping local gaming during day.

I shall endeavour to keep you updated with more. Thx for the kind words.

Btw when I got home last night both my mweb account and a mtn business account I borrowed from work both give 500ms+ pings when I did the speed tests last night.

Makes me wonder where the source of this really is.

I'm not sure if anyone remembers my post a few days back about my horrible problem and my unsuccessful quest for a 4MB/s line. Well... Last night I phoned Mweb about my slow speeds again and also about my incredibly high speeds all of a sudden. I was on the 384 all inclusive uncapped and my speeds started out at 2-3kb/s. Then they shot up to 48-50KB/s and then I was running at 110KB/s on a 384 line. So as I said I contacted Mweb and they then told me that I have been running on a 4MB line and that is why my speeds increased. I THOUGHT THERE WAS NO 4MB LINE IN MY AREA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Clearly not one person knows what is going on. Okay anyway, I asked them to upgrade my account to the 4096kbps all inc uncapped, and they did this in just a few minutes although my speed only increased to 55kb/s or so. The after about an hour after upgrading my account my speeds shot up to 130KB/s although that was just for a few minutes. Then last night from about 9PM to2AM my speeds were down again at 8-9kb/s. This morning up again to 30kb/s. Can someone please explain this?!?!?!?!?

What speed does your router sync at?

@Qwikslver My router syncs at 4096 and today Telkom contacted me and they wanted to try putting me on 1024 but that didn't help at all, now I'm getting speeds of 10-15kb/s on 4096.

@Mweb Ops. Check PM :)

My First month of Uncapped awesomenessness

52 GB's!

That is what i managed to do in total for my first month of uncapped 384 with Mweb! I am extremely happy with the service and the ease of getting connected. Speeds have been acceptable during the day and i get almost full speed at night.I have no problem with shaping during the day.

Alright so basically i got 10x more data with Mweb than i did with Telkom. Is that not something to just be happy about :D

Here's to many many more months of uncapped bliss! THANK YOU MWEB....

;)

Yeah, that's cool. MWeb's all-inclusive uncapped 384kbps package is R349 per month, so that's R6.71 per GB. Nice :)
