Unshaped browsing. Whoopi! Let's celebrate!

I was just pointing out that actually browsing would basically be unshaped on the shaped accounts, which you claimed it only would be on the unshaped accounts. Now suddenly you don't care anymore and it is actually unshaped. What a silly response. See what I mean about objective..

Yeah, HTTP is always unshaped AFAIK. If I'm wrong and you feel the need to point it out, include a link/reference/source :)

any one else getting this?

Yup. Happens from time to time, particularly late Sunday I think. Maybe that's the time they do some database updates or something. Not sure why the entire system needs to be brought down though.

I get "Server Error in '/' Application.".

i've been getting 150kB/s+ on an SSL pipe but using a port that is known for being nntp.

being that as it may, it is my last month on this account. come september and openweb gold will be what i am using.

Use them for a month or two and post your feedback. Will make for an interesting comparison.

what really made me leave was getting sub 30kB/s on Friday night (after 20h00) before Saturday 00h00. I can accept shaping. but my line running at less than 10% for nntp traffic is beyond unacceptable for such a long stretch of time on a product that is meant to be uncapped. i can't imagine openweb will be worse.

yes you cn say their T&Cs state that will be the case. But then surely their T&Cs mean the product is not unlimited. If the product throttles such that you can never come close to its theoretical maximun; and if you do more than half of this maximum you become targeted; it loses what uncapped/unlimited is meant to be.

i hope mweb pay you for your efforts at defending them.

i also doubt there's anything dynamic about the shaping. On Friday and now; 1h00 sees a speed jump to 300kB/s from around 150kB/s. Call me a skeptic.

edit: it strikes me - during office hours you get worse speed than what was the IS after hours uncapped. between 8pm and 1am you also get worse speeds. between 1am and 8am u can't be sure to get full line speed.

the restrictions on this account are really unbelievable for what is meant to be uncapped.

edit2: the flip side is whether we should chase this as consumers. we believe we have uncapped accounts. but are the high usage accounts any better for us? what would happen to costs if these were advertised as 700GB accounts (4Mbps users)? I use close to 300GB pm. Would that change my and others habits?
