I've appeneded the posts as i cannot find the new official Q&A thread

Mweb, i hope there is some type of glitch but the second i drop under 2GB/day i jump ISP's

i also doubt there's anything dynamic about the shaping. On Friday and now; 1h00 sees a speed jump to 300kB/s from around 150kB/s. Call me a skeptic.

edit: it strikes me - during office hours you get worse speed than what was the IS after hours uncapped. between 8pm and 1am you also get worse speeds. between 1am and 8am u can't be sure to get full line speed.

the restrictions on this account are really unbelievable for what is meant to be uncapped.

edit2: the flip side is whether we should chase this as consumers. we believe we have uncapped accounts. but are the high usage accounts any better for us? what would happen to costs if these were advertised as 700GB accounts (4Mbps users)? I use close to 300GB pm. Would that change my and others habits?

I've been with axxess with for just over a month and a bit, and there service is amazing, full speed all the time, obviously if im not throttled during the day. Im yet to see when the thresholding policy kicks in.

*touches every piece of wood in a 5 km radius*

VERY happy with my connection recently. Just finished a 350 Meg download in a couple of minutes. It stayed constant at ~350k/s for most of the download. Also managed to stream a ~5 minute 1080p HD video on YouTube with no buffering.

Well done, guys. Barring a couple of minutes of no connectivity on er... Tuesday night I think it was, it's cruising along nicely now. Thanks!

And no, I'm not on 10meg ADSL... yet *keeps on praying to the interwebz gods* :)

Eish, see? I jinxed it! Heh. Weird connectivity this morning. Some sites load fine and others, like mybb, don't. Typing this from my iPhone.

Let's hope it's just a small glitch.

The day before yesterday and yesterday, my nntp was going at 1 - 3KB/s. Speed on other apps were doing fine. Then it shot up last night, 6pm pronto! wtf?
Anyone else had the same?

Tuesday evening my line speed dropped to about 2kBps, but it had nothing to do with MWEB. Using my WA account I got the same speeds, barely able to open a simple web page. Wednesday morning, all was fine again on both WA and MWEB. Telkom possibly busy breaking their network trying to upgrade people? Nope, I'm still synced to 4096kbps.

I've been trying to play counter strike source and my ping on local severs (most based in jhb) is never lower than 130 for the last few days. On servers hosted by Internet Solutions I am not getting pings lower than 300. Thoughts on what might be happening? Mweb has been very good to me since I subscribed about 3 months ago but it's getting worse and worse. I'm on 384 uncapped

There's a problem with Telkom at
some exchanges. They're upgrading
them to new speeds and things.

The symptoms are high latency.

MWEB isn't the best for CSS,
because they over-shape games.

Speeds suck atm - getting a whole 60Kbs on a 4Mbps line. Its 23:30 and they're still shaping us??!!

all those 10meg users...no? but then again, even tho Mweb is the better one of the bunch, its 80% crappy speeds from them anyway! hardly ever get faster than 150k/200k

My connection has been behaving pretty good *touch wood again*. But yah, the pre six o clock shaping is definitely annoying. I was told that there's no shaping, it's just because businesses still use their connections until then and that's why the speeds are slower before six.

Erm. Yah. Sure.

Are you on an unshaped product?

Still running at 65Kbps - looks like I"m shaped 24x7 now :(

Hi greg.

Please send us a PM with some detail on the problems you're experiencing and we'll see what can be done to improve the situation.

MWEB cant you guys introduce a Product thats better suited for Gaming as its very unpredictable when Dynamic shaping is applied? spending 2x as more for an unshaped to game with, not worth it.

This is definitely something that's under consideration although I can't give you any specifics at this point. I'm sure that you will also see improvements in the gaming performance on our shaped products as we grow our IPC network.

Come on Mweb.. your speeds have bad all weekend..

Whats with the heavy shaping all weekend... 65k a second is bad.. last night around midnight I was getting even slower than that.

Good morning everyone :)

@Adrenalin and fbman, please PM your details to me and I'll get someone to look into the current issues you're having.
