Few guys in our clan play on a 384k line, they seem to be happy but I think the game does officialy require 512k min.

I know it says 512k on the box, but generally 384k doesn't really feature internationally :)

My question was twofold really:

Firstly I'd like to understand what my expectations should be in terms of supporting BC2 related queries from a 384k customer and secondly as I am coming out of FPS retirement for this one if I should consider upgrading my line :p

Thanks
Will

If your running teamspeak on top, which most folks do for clan matches, I would suggest at least 512k as the 384k's do complain about ts.

BC2 might require 512k, if in game voip is working, but since most of the time voip is broken and people are using teamspeak (uses a lot less traffic than in game voip), I expect 384k will be fine. I know many people play with 384k and never hear them complain about their line being too slow for BC2.

Thanks - I was hoping that would be the case. I never had any issues with BF2 and Teamspeak running - I would imagine that under the hood the netcode is probably still very similar.

yesterday I lagged alot while playing Hon especially when you nearing the end of the match however it might have been because the game was hosted on SAIX. dunno if someone else experience this.

BFBC2 boys are all screaming about saix at the mo, we get some major lag spikes on the servers and thats everyone not just the Mweb players.

Mweb is getting worse and worse by the day. My download speeds are not getting better than 200KB/s on a 5mb connection. speedtest is fine but p2p and download speeds totally crap. I did the account change thing but speeds are still super crap

My mweb uncapped 4mbps had become totally unstable. Changed username to mweb.co.za and still no luck. I'm trying to download a 300mb file and it's taking 2 days. Connections dropping out intermittently. Really upset.

i think there's to many users on the mweb network

I think it's region/traffic related. I am on 384k uncapped with Mweb and my ping times are generally horrific, mostly over 500ms, too bad to even play BF2 on the SAIX servers most of the time. I notice that they drop after about 10 at night to under 50, so seem to be load related. Reporting this to Mweb support is a waste of time, nice guys but was told they get the service from Telkom and I must complain to them. Needless to say I am paying Mweb and Mweb should sort my issues out as Telkom are not interested in helping as I am not their client. I love the uncapped thing, so 1st world, but am seriously thinking of going back to Telkom so I can talk to the horses mouth since the caps have been increased.

What speeds are you averaging ?
From where are you downloading? Int? etc..

Averaging 55-59kB/sec on 512kbps line ;)

Another UnCapped User :D

Asked for 384 UnCapped, MWEB gave me 512 :p
Already had a 512kbps Capped 5GB Line..
No Complaints though, alot more stable than the prev. package :D
Just awaiting feedback from MWEB ppl, maybe i will even stay on 512 :p
Billing details looks a bit of a mess 2 me, but will see what they say.. :D

Thx MWEB and MWEB OPS :D

@jiteshraj Let me have your account details so that I can investigate the dropped connection issue you having.

@nelis If constant unshaped downloads is what you require why not give our internet addict account a try.
