Yeah, but I also don't want to be asked to moved to the more expensive options...that to me is "banning" or is that banishing...

They don't do that based purely on volume either... if most of this is happening between 00:00 and 07:00 which Im guessing it is, the won't give a damn. Simply put don't bypass the shaping and you are safe, this has been reiterated by the MWEB reps before.

MWEB has been enormously helpful with my recent problem.

In fact they are driving me nuts with all the phoning and checking up to see if things are sorted. :p

True - I am on 425GB now but this is only because the sites that I mirrored are not shaped and I do my mirroring in the day when HTTP is not shaped.
At night I do my P2P because it it not shaped then. If you do the right thing at the right time then they should not be ticked off at you.

I wish I could say the same.

I've logged my issue 2 weeks ago, yet here I am still browisng the forums to see if I can get my connection sorted.

They said it was escalated to the network engineers, but I guess that is ISP talk for "**** off,we're not doing anything"

http speeds have been INSANE, just got last nights south park at a steady 430kbs :D

terrible service, they've shaped rapidshare,megaupload,hotfile... pay sites which people pay for every month... 50kb/s for 18 hours of the day... give me a break... mweb are liars and sit in the same corner as telkom...

"heres uncapped adsl... but you gonna download at 1/8th the speed... enjoy.."

These are all things that they state in their T&C's... if you are unable to read, then complain to your brain. Mweb do not lie, and they do not hide what they do...

You started your own thread already and you could've checked up on it, or read any other MWeb thread, or their T&C's, to see why you're being silly.

Oh and good luck with the "honest" ISP that will let you download full speed http from those sites all day for R500/month. Be sure to let us know.

torrents running at 200kbs (limited)
filehost running at 220kbs.
mweb ftw.

Anyone who is expecting full speeds all the time is an idiot.

Frankly, I was hugely annoyed about the shaping on a site, and MWEB completely sorted it out. Then they phoned and checked I can't count how many times over the last day or two.

Given all their other moves in the ISP arena, I feel that they are really doing this in the best interests of the consumer. At the end of the day, all it takes is one ISP to recognize what the public want and need. So far, they've done a pretty good job of it I reckon.

As long as their network continues to grow with their customer base, I think good times are ahead.

Downloading the Hifi Corp brochure at an astounding 13kb/s on 4MB

Just a thought
But you haven’t considered the fact that HiFi corps website might just be slow because allot of other people is also downloading that brochure?

Now for the guys who wants to use torrents
Nice article for people who uses Utorrent
You can use the same principles with other torrent clients but the settings might be bit different

As for that don’t use the encryption setting
I’m not sure if MWEB considers that as bypassing the shaping

Why? Because everyone just randomly decided it was a good time to download it?
