Lol, i absolutely love the way MWEB replies to people who threaten to leave / stop paying.

Maybe we should start sending emails to Rudi Jansen directly. Anyone want his facebook page?

I'm thinking of upgrading to a 4MBPS line - what speeds will I get on torrents/P2P:

1) During the day, when shaping is in effect?
2) In the early hours of the morning, when shaping is relaxed?

Thanks :)

hmm NNTP speed has been pretty bad so far tonight. Average of about 6 kB/s, which is far below my normal average of about 25kB/s for this time of night. Hope it picks up over the next few hours.

Been pretty happy with MWEB recently. If only p2p speeds were faster then it would be perfect.. but then again this is the cheap package

Thanks yeah SGS is terrible now, how long will this last?
How in gods name can international bandwidth be cheaper than local?? Its criminal

It'll last as long as Telkom refuse to peer for free with MWeb, which looks like it'll be a long time right now.

And Telkom is to blame for the last bit, they charge more for CPT->JHB than CPT->London costs over Seacom. Hopefully some new national networks will start bringing these prices down, in the meanwhile MWeb is trying to get ISPs to stop paying these charges by rather all peering for free.

Happy to say my speed did improve later on, the network must have been a bit busier than usual I guess.

My connection speeds are SO bad at the moment :(
Mine was too. I rebooted the router - no luck. Only after I switched it off and on again did my connection fly. I guess it was a telkom line issue and the router needed to do some startup/synch/who-know-what checks on the line.

I'm afraid I've been nothing but absolutely disappointed with the mweb adsl (supposed) 384 uncapped service. I've had it for three days, I've called their very expensive to call call centre stood on hold for an average of fifteen minutes at a time, to have them refresh the service, get the the 384 speed for about 10 min and then have it go back a speed worse than iburst - I actually thought that was impossible. Speedtest.net gets me 0.03mbs. I think if your going to lie about a product/service that you obviously can't provide properly, don't do it. It just makes your company look like money hungry thieves. I'd rather be robbed than conned. And I think mweb is just conning the crap out of South African consumers. Definately not renewing the month to month. Definately going to find an ISP that actually delivers.
