xrapidx, what exchange are you on? I am having wonderfuls d/ls now, in comparison to last week.

Some extreme shaping taking place at present.

I have never really been able to download any NNTP during office hours. It is totally dead, or at max only reaches about 2 to 6 kBps, and that is using a paid internationally hosted news server, nothing to do with the status of the MWEB news server.
 
Again today everything is slow on mweb for me, its taking ages to open any pages. Yet on my axxess pages open fast so its not a line problem. Also getting huge latency spikes on mweb in online games.

Oh right - thought you went something quite different. I'm in West Beach - no idea what the ADSL nr is - there is a Telkom box in our driveway... I think that's close enough :)

Dude - this is so not cool.... shaped services are at 10kb/s, that is super weak. I'd say 40kb/s (10%) is the maximum they should shape/throttle you to.
Your case I think is a lot worse cause you said all your traffic was like that permanently while I still get 400kb/s on non-shaped services at anytime of the day.

yip - I've had a well seeded 10.8gb torrent sitting for a month now, its at 2% :) torrents seem to be a no go.

Newsgroups have been averaging around 40KB/s - but peak at 100KB/s....

When I do HTTP downloads (and this is not always from filehosts, e.g. sourceforge) I get around 50KB/s.

switch to my backup account and full speed... (except for a small incident last week were all was slow).

This is the reason I cancelled... MWEB weren't interested, and when they did respond, and I explained it, they blamed shaping - but first trying to pass off that my line is doing well because of the past weekends downloads, a first in awhile.

I have to leave my line running 24/7 now - when MWEB started uncapped, I could download what I wanted overnight. This is now going to be my highest usage month, as I've now looked for everything I could possibly want and scheduled it, purely because I can't rely on the connection.

My downloads were 60-100GB a month before, so not exactly high.

I think I would have done the same if I were you cause 100GB on a 4mbps line is way to low. I average about 333GB and last month I did 495GB. My torrents did 238GB in the last 31 days and in total I have had 896GB down and 222GB up since I installed uTorrent 2.0.4.

It sucks that some of us have great service (well mostly) and some like you really get the worst service imaginable - and I agree with you that its not a Telkom issue.
 
Yeah, I can confirm, my Mweb account totally sucks for the passed 3 days! slow as hell! browsing is slow, downloads slow, everything is slow. Bloody sick and tired of this.

Same here, my line is useless!!! Browsing on my free Afrihost account now...strange how a free account works like a bomb but a paid account for 500 ront is well.....
 
getting full line speed and some sites like this one (link) like 2.5Kb/s.

checked notices, and only saw one.
 
After bad News server speed on 384k, for the last hour im getting decent speeds, can only hope it lasts
 
4 kbps to Supernews atm. Uncapped is starting to look like less of a bargain, and more like a white elephant. Pitty, it was so good for a time.
 
Newsgroups still down, torrents going nowhere...another wasted day on MWEB's crap 'uncapped' service.
 
MWeb news server is up and running

I am currently downloading from both Mweb News and Astraweb... at 48k a second.. but it is working
 
Looks like MWeb is under strain with the peering cuts....It might just be coincidence, but the heavy shaping seems to coincide with them routing via London...Am i wrong?
Maybe add MWeb to the misquotes article "we have ample international capacity" ;)
