Really crap non-shaped traffic tonight. Did a firmware update on my WD HD TV Live media player (about 31mb) and it took about 10 minutes instead of a few seconds. Something is definitely fake and or gay.

Edit - Seems a little better now :

Well my speeds are now also diminishing. News server is running very badly. Web pages are timing out (Could just be the Post Office site though but yesterday was also not good) and torrents are running semi ok.

So, on your connection you have to be running a http download, torrent, news server, and do a bit of browsing and emailing to get it to max speed.

Wonderful.

My podcasts are not showing up even thou I know they are there. Could be a Akamai >|< Mweb issue.

Newsgroups still down, torrents going nowhere...another wasted day on MWEB's crap 'uncapped' service.

Hi SSung

Please advise if you are still experiencing aa problem with our news server, if yes; please rename your server name from mweb.news to 196.28.182.20. Please advise if you still can't connect thereafter.

Not working:

My downloads are fine, i peak at 1.2kb/s

196.28.182.20 doesn't work for me at all, unable to connect

NGs still down -'unable to connect'.

Is the mweb news server working , Ive been having problems connecting for about a month now, it keeps giving me "unable to connect to news.mweb.co.za :119"

It seems to just be stuck on "connecting" if I change it, but I can ping it "196.28.182.20" atleast

Edit: it gives "unable to connect, (Socket Error # 10060 Connection timed out.)

Pattern of repetition.

mweb even has xrapidx repeating repeats about mweb repeating what they said the first 10 times, this could go on forever

I just have both enabled, sometimes one works, sometimes the other works, if im lucky both works.

xrapidx, pointing out the real problem :)

Once they admit their shaping is way more on p2p before the upgrades, I think we could all make up our mind whether we wanted to stay on the MWEB bandwagon or not.

I remember reading something like "Once the upgrades are done we will have (can't remember what percentage) extra bandwidth" andthat wasn't said once. It was said a few times. So where is all that extra bandwidth now???

'Upgrades ' = more shaping. That's what I think.

It's obvious the 4meg shaped option is under priced.

MWEB REALLY should release a "power user" package. Not unshaped but with lower contention ratios at a higher price. Say R999. That way the power users can get something better.

Neither news.mweb.co.za nor 196.28.182.20 work for me. I'm not talking about slow dl speeds, I'm talking about not connecting at all. It worked fine for a an hour or two in the early hours but nothing before or since.

Hi SSung

Please advise if the problem is only with the news server? Please also DM me your Mweb account details and I will do an investigation on my side.

I once had this issue, after a rebooted router, and a @mweb signon, it worked perfectly.
Also had it again, and then changed my DNS with the help of technical support, and it worked after that to.

Just one other option if you wanna give it a bash, be my guest. Otherwise wait for MWEB Ops to help you through the issue. I am no expert.
