Hey guys! I've been having problems for the past two weeks. My pings on Speed Test have been in the region of 3100ms and higher or just "time outs".

I've spoken to a Telkom Techie and was told it was normal to get such high pings on MWeb Uncapped.

My pings used to range from 35-190ms at the most.

I've reset the router and changed the router. My international has either been down or really slow for the past 2 weeks.

Any advice?

Hi Schitzo

Let me have your account details there might be something I can assist with.

Kind regards
MWEB Operations

All ping tests seem to be insanely high, when they previously used to be in the 30s, (mostly 40s) to mid 100ms. It seems to be a lil better now. Howevr in the mornings, I'm unable to connect at all.

What do you get if you ping www.mweb.co.za?

Wow. Those are bad. I get 10ms.

Can you post your line stats? (attenuation etc)

Hi! Daft question, but how do I do an attenuation? I just know how to do a Tracecert and Ping test.

Could you tell me, what range of pings, should I be getting, please?

You will need to logon to your router - should be somewhere under modem status or line status. There should be US and DS line attenuation.

Its really quick tonight, torrents are between 100kb/s and 200kb/s and none of the crap we have had since Monday. Thanks Mweb.

I'm still getting connected and disconnected every 20 or 30 minutes, and I seem to be rendered offline for anywhere up to 30 minutes at a time

Strangest thing happened now though, I remained on steam and chatted to a mate on steam whilst being disconnected.... (previously steam would have disconnected too, not this time though)

Not a single web page would open, nor would a ping complete to any IP address or host name...

The lights on my router constantly remain green or on throughout the whole process,

What this means? I'm not sure but I highly doubt its my router messing around (will be testing tomorrow if the problem continues) - please tell me theres others out there experiencing this?

Lucky you! My line is still at dialup speed! Nevermind nzb's or p2p, I have to wait for youtube to stream....load a page, wait 2 mins for a 30s video to load on a 4Mbit line?!?!? I switched to my Afrihost free account so that we could actually browse the net and download some files.

I'm tired of these crap speeds! I'm cancelling my line today! I'm all for a company revolutionizing the SA broadband scene but NOT at my expense!!

Whats up with the terribly slow speeds today, getting like 8k on my 4mb line, Durban area.

Starting to think Uncapped was a mistake with all the problems I'm getting. News down again? :/

Hi SSung

Please advise if the problem is only with the news server? Please also DM me your Mweb account details and I will do an investigation on my side.

Regards,
MWEB Operations

The problem is with both newsgroups & torrents (come to think of it). Newsgroups don't connect at all for most of the day (which never used to happen) & torrents are dead for most of the day aswell.

PM with details sent. Maybe should have added that I'm based in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town.

If you're referring to MWEB's own newsserver then I fear that it is intentional since mine has been following the same performance pattern (only connecting for 2-4 hours in the early morning) over the last few days.

I'm referring to that as well as the + - 2 hours it was down for yesterday.

The news server was working fine this morning. I've already done like 600MB today only on my 384kbps account.

Currently everything is working fine with Mweb consumer & business uncapped here in Stellenbosch :D

Eish, I was speaking TOO soon!

It seems like exactly the same problem as we all experienced yesterday: no international access & no access to SAIX stuff.

Mweb really has to start pulling up their socks with regards to uptime, international access and routing of local stuff via international nodes!
