MWEB Uncapped Subscribers Feedback

No, for srs. And without any unshaping methods too.

think there shaping system has gone bugging, overshaping some users and giving some lucky ones (like us) unshaped....
they will probably sort it out soon.....

EDIT: as i was sending this shaping kicks back in, back down to the normal 90kB/s.....

I am also fed up with this. The last 2 days i switched back to my backup telkom accounts. And today my skype calls , site loading and video buffering is up to ****. I have three 4mb uncapped accounts and thats alot of money for such a pos bandwith account. Free the web my ass !!
Just not sure where to go if i leave them.

I've mentioned it before ... I'm going to give Axxess Just Uncapped 4096 a try next month. It's month to month so no risk. It allows TWO concurrent connections, so I'm going to share it with a friend. So that will work out to R496/2 = R248/month vs Mweb's R539. If it performs similarly then it's a massive saving. I don't care about daytime speed as I'm at work then. From another thread I got feedback that though the Axxess site claims it will be 2x2 Mbps connections it in fact is full speed. My line only syncs at 2-3 Mbps anyway. I'm quite happy with around 100-150 GB per month, so hopefully I won't be in the top 50% of 4 Mbps users.

Anyways, will feedback to this thread next month ...

It's been like this for a few days now, 146 gb's isn't possible in a short period of time on a 4mb line.

Axxess has plenty of hidden clauses to stop you doing much downloading. It caps very soon and then the throttling will slow you down. IS bandwidth remember.

At this stage I think its fair to say that no one at this stage is giving a reasonable service, Mweb is just as bad as IS just in a different aspects, I use to believe Mweb was the best but so far without fail each month there service is degrading and getting worse.

Does anyone know how to change from 4mbps uncapped down to 384 unshapped.

Two emails, one to sales and one to accounts have thus far produced to auto generated responses and a phone call, telling me that someelse deals with these request and they will phone me?

Yeah right...

Sad day when you get a better response on Facebook instead of official company channels...

I bet the budget for call center staff isn't high - and they probably have no IT knowledge and reply on scripts to respond to questions.

Why then call me at all if they can't help me, just to say they respond to all querries within 48 hours? Wonder how many querries they resolve in 48 hours?

Hello Mr. MWEB

I've been a customer of yours since April, before then my parents (aka moms and pops) were customers of your since internet in a can. I'm now over this fallacy you call uncapped. Since April its been a rocky ride, some months better than others, coupled with promises of increasing capacity. So I hung around, using the service when it worked and keeping quiet when it was shaky.

I fully support the contention that I have bought a shaped service and I should get used to it, but that is not what I'm getting any longer. Since the end of October I have got on average speeds of 15KB/s on torrents during the day, and roughly 150Kb/s average at (the dead of) night. I was under the impression that the shaping policy was dynamic and changed as peoples usage changed. Thats clearly not the case as you can notice a definite change on the hour.

The extent of the shaping during office hours should be severe, after all thats what I'm paying for, but at speeds like what I have been experiencing its no longer acceptable. The shaping has rendered any downloads off torrents unusable, its a total joke. Even at the dead of night, which I was led to believe would give considerably better speeds at the launch, is not acceptable. Furthermore I can empathize with the folks that are gaming as the latencies that I have been subjected to are unbearable. Even small downloads are stalling before completion, YouTube is constantly buffering and streaming is a nightmare. Even a miserable stream off grooveshark is impossible.

Something needs to be done Mr MWEB. I have a 4Mbps account, that syncs at 3Mbps (hardly your fault) and I never reach top speed even at 3Mbps, your service is bordering on impossible to use. Browsing is fine for the most part, IMAP's timeout occasionally, but the moment I use something more bandwidth sensitive like video everything comes to a grinding halt. You folk need to get cracking on making the service usable again: get more bandwidth, the uglification of your Cisco routers... I have no idea what you need to do, but just do something, or at least admit there is a problem.

I've done everything I can possibly do from my side to make sure everything is fine. I'm at the end of the line now, buck up or shod off.

For anyone that wants to downgrade, you need to speak to support and not sales.

Best to phone...so ironical...

I have weeks data suggesting that at the stroke of midnight, the shaper goes to sleep and my news server speeds pick up to over 400kbps, so much for the dynamic shaping...

I am switching to 384 unshapped on 1 December, mostly to save R600 in doing so. other priorities. Will let you know what the service levels are during the day as well as at night.

Looking at the number of Mweb threads which are now mostly dominated by complaints, I can hardly do worse.

I do love it when they get caught out. You guys are assuming that this shaping thing is all a mistake. Well I have news for you....
