Hmm having issues downloading from my server in the states. Just upgraded from 384k to 4meg (today) and it's puttering along at 20kb/s. I can get over 350kb/s with steam though. My own server can't be being shaped - anyone have any clue what could be wrong?

Over HTTP on port 80?

When you were using your 384kbps line, did downloads from your server come down faster than 20KB/s?
 
Looks like MWEB's IPC is not running correctly. Or a different router in their network. Omitting the first and last hops in the traceroute.

Cool, thanks for the update. Panicked a bit since it was my first experience with the 4meg ;)
 
At least they are keeping their customers informed. Good Going guys.
 
I will say the same thing i said on your FB wall:
What MWEB needs to understand is that even though the Customers aren't always right they are "King".
Losing someone (even a small number of angry / frustrated home users, is a cut to your revenue stream.

I believe there are issues, but clarification is not being given as to what the exact causes of the last 4-5 downtimes where.
Tell us something, and we might go
"Oh, you know what - I actually understand that a datacentre burnt down"
(Obviously not the right answer here) -
But hey, you gotta start somewhere.
 
Anthropod while the customer is king at some point the moaning must end with mweb terminating the service or the client walking away.

Simple rule i live by:

If i am not happy with a service i cancel or move to someone who can offer me something better. Sitting bitching for months is more of a headache for mweb than people canceling i would imagine.

The customer is not always king bud. There is a point when enough is enough.

Mweb has been up and down all day. Int is down then working then down. Been fine for a couple hours luckily :D.
 
I do concur to some level with your thinking, when customer pays your rent and food though, you kind of have to spark + deliver on your promises or (pun intended) have some backbone to answer the more technically proficient on their burning questions as to why the hell this happens (exact causes can be thrilling to hear for a techie)

It would be nice if issues were posted to the network notices page, just so that users can see that MWeb is aware of whatever issues there are.
