You need to give at least 30 days (calendar month) notice. If you cancel tomorrow you'll get removed at the end of February.

Why are torrent speeds still pretty much non existent? I'm lucky if I get over 200mb (on 384k) overnight. It's pathetic. :(

Been averaging probably about 20-25 kB/s during the day, often up to about 30 the last couple of days. It's bloody miraculous. Not sure about night, as my PC is off then generally.

Whatever is happening my side MWEB, keep at it.

Just earlier today I got an average of 350-400 kB/s consistently on torrents for hours on my Web Africa account. Then I switched over to 4Mb Mweb uncapped and I'm getting 50 kB/s... :(

Maybe I should have just kept my Web Africa, caps suck, but at least you don't have to wait days for something. Hope I didn't make the wrong choice.
I thought they were pretty lenient on torrents and other downloads at night!??!

You cannot, with a straight face, compare a capped product, to an uncapped product.

I know, but 12.5% the speed of capped?! Wow, I didn't know it was that bad. From what I heard from some Mweb uncapped users before I took the plunge 400 kB/s was attainable... should have known better I guess.

What's your torrent speed during the night, if you let it run?

If your experience is anything like mine is on 384, torrents are iffy, but that's what we signed up for, HTTP is always 100% full speed for me.

Well... I've only had my account for 2 days now. Last night I'd say I got about 120 kB/s on average. Tonight it's around 40 and 50.

The worst thing is, when I entered the Mweb setting on my router last night, I did tracert's etc. to make sure all is OK. I got back from work this afternoon and started downloading, I almost fell on my back when I noticed how awesome the speed was, I downloaded about 5GB in like 3 hours. Then I started to get suspicious, this was too good to be true. When I checked tracert. again noticed I was back on my Web Africa account. I didn't know to save the new settings to the ROM on the router and the power must have gone out during the day.

I'd point and laugh at myself, the thing is, this is not funny. I currently now have to pay 2 internet accounts until my WA account is cancelled and I've managed to use up most of my WA account in 3hrs (2.5GB left) on what was mostly a trial run to see how things went.
So now I'm left with paying loads of cash for a WA account that I basically pissed away, and my new ISP service is looking to be pretty pointless for downloading so far /FML

Well if you ran 1 torrent at around 9pm at night it's hardly an indication of the speeds you'll get in general. You can usually get yourself 400Kb pretty easily if you wait until later at night, use other means besides torrents (or maybe better seeded ones) etc.

In any case capped is obviously better if you think you'll stick to the gigs you can afford, otherwise uncapped is amazing value even though you have to wait a bit longer (way longer in daytime) for your downloads. You could always get an uncapped account and a small capped account for when you have to get some P2P files quickly.

rather do ftp/http tests to see what you are currently at. bit daft to use p2p as they are randomly shaped.

i've found this long list of http/ftp links, useful for per country testing if you suspect a "bad" site located in the related country

http://www.debian.org/CD/http-ftp/

What would be a better option? Sorry, I'm just so used to torrents since I've never had any problems with them up until now.
Some links to good sites where I can look would be a great help. Or just point me in the right direction on the forum, I'm sure there must be some helpful links on here somewhere.

Thanks for the info dude. Any sites where I can download something I'll actually use? ...hehe
No offense, I'm just not into Linux right now, I prefer it on my phone, not on my PC. :)

EDIT: Averaging 50kB/s from Hotfile.com

Ye torrents are so handy but they're often the slower way to download. If you use file-hosting sites (rapidshare, filesonic, megaupload, megashares etc) you get pretty good speeds with Mweb uncapped. Now to find the files that these sites host you can use filestube.com or any of the hundreds of forums that are dedicated to collecting these links. Even a plain google search with the word rapidshare or hotfile (or whichever site works best) will get you links usually.

JDownloader is pretty essential as a download manager made for these sites.

I sometimes use a combination of torrents and file hosting sites as well. The problem with these sites is that some of them require you to put in a captcha code for every download.

lol i know it's a distro, but i use the links to get an indication as what i'm currently getting for FTP/HTTP in related country. as for the site... well one do not kiss and tell :D
