MWEB Uncapped Subscribers Feedback

Listen Mweb, please sort this out or at least tell us what the problem is. At the start of this month everyone's news server speeds started degrading, it CAN'T be a coincidence. Browsing speeds are horrible, Latency has sky-rocketed. And mweb guy don't ask for my details because this is not an isolated incident, the fault is not at my side. I know OpenWeb said there are national Telkom outages, has Mweb's degrading service have something to do with the outages?

Jis, I am getting rather frustrated here now...I have been communicating with Mweb Guy via PM and he is looking into it, but this is just sooooo frustrating.

I have a 4mbps uncapped account for a reason - I use the net extensively. I wonder what will happen if we deduct money from our next Mweb payments due to this downtime? (rhetorical question, I know what will happen, you will get your account cut off and blacklisted as a non payer).

I wonder if the CPA has something relevant to this...\

EDIT: I'm sure there's some new shaping **** going on - when i monitor the speed of my connection to soemthing like youtube it spikes to easily 200KBps but then very quickly goes down to max 20KBps.

seems the same for some other streaming sites I use.

GRRRR

Second EDIT, and sorry for the spam: Just want to say I am LANK impressed with the speed of MyBB. Pages load in what feels like microseconds, and the Ajax is very, very smooth. Well done!

Hi MWEB Guy, Just got back home from a frustrating day at work--dog slow internet; Now at home the same! I am crawling here in Durban--done rebooting the router with no luck. I can't even open the Speedtest page!
What is going on? Any pointers? Please help.

Hi all

We are looking into the speed queries being presented to us by our clients; I have provided our network team with several examples of clients having a similar experience. We hope to identify the cause in due course.

Kind regards,
MWEB Guy

I have stopped asking about this slowness, come the 24th of this month, i am cancelling this a/c

Thanks for the information mystic, much appreciated.

the sad part is that we notified mweb of the higher latency and slower speeds, probably more then 24 hours ago now.

Evening avert, we are grateful for all the information and we are working towards a resolution.

mine still sucks, did you guys do the reboot-the-router-create-new-port thing?

News server is doing great, thanks Mweb. 60-70 KB/s

Test while the news server is "flying"

I tried this but it made no difference. This morning the speed seemed better, and now just got home from work still seems ok, I did a speed test to London, seems "ok" for a 4MB line, but to San Francisco it is still slow (I always test to these servers, so I have a reference)

Are MWEB shaping HTTP? The reason I ask is it seems to be time based (like most shaping), yesterday afternoon and most of yesterday night my 4meg line ran at just over 1meg, in the wee hours of the morning I got full speed.

This evening the same thing appears to be happening, 4 meg line is running at 1 meg.

MWEB Guy, could you comment please?
