Mine also fluctuates heavily. It works great for 1 out of 24 hours. The other 23 hours I'm sitting with 0-10kb/s throughput on 4mb.
 
Some feedback would be great tho, this has been going on for the past 2 weeks.
Surely its a reasonable assumption that people will start to move to something more reliable after 2 weeks of below average performance.
 
UPDATE:

justin.tv stream was choppy at 360p, then exactly as the clock struck midnight suddenly i can and still am streaming the very same stream at 720p, not a hiccup. If that doesn't point a finger directly at the shaping then I don't know what does!!!! It was the same last night, and I will bet my bottom dollar that it will continue smoothly until around 10am tomorrow morning.

Come on guys, just tell us that we are being shaped so that I can make a decision about the future of my account. I think I have been patient enough. I have worked with the tech support guy who passed my data on to the engineers. I have submitted the form. I have checked with Telkom.

Right now as I write this post I am streaming 720p from justin.tv as well as youtube at 720p AT THE SAME TIME!!!!!! 15 mins ago I couldn't even stream 360p. Don't tell me it's my line. Don't pretend to not know what's going on. I feel like I am being defrauded of my money!

Now I am starting to get a little bit pissed off!!!
 
For all their faults and whatnot, not once have they denied there is shaping ..... it is a Shaped product ffs, learn to read people.
 
Yep, as expected. Its now after midnight and have tried the nvidia driver download that a few hours earlier could barely muster 35KB/s, its now going between 200 and 350KB/s. Not the best or that steady but a hell of a lot better than before. For the past several days every http download or streaming that I tried never managed much more than 130KB/s......averaging at around 60KB/s. Now that its after midnight im seeing speed over 300 and getting close to 400KB/s!!! If this doesnt say there is something seriously wrong with mweb shaping then I dont know what does!
 
Yes there is shapping but not on http downloads. Pretty much most people complaining recently is with internationl http downloads and streaming and not with torrents and news servers. Http is NOT supposed to be shapped and even if it does, surely not all the way from 450KB/s tp 30KB/s. If thats the case then whats the point of an uncapped package at 4Mbit speed??
 
my speed is still a bit choppy upload2 (video sharing site) is buffering every 10sec and torrent going at 20kb/s.netlimiter2 is reporting speeds being below 50kb/s the whole day and not higher.
 
Trying to download Starcraft 2. 7 gigs. So far today, its been going at 20kb/s. Right now its jumping between 20kb/s and 80kb/s. Last night it was going at 100kb/s stable. I want to play starcraft 2 sometime this month if possible...
 
Yeah I agree Mephisto_Helix. It's a shaped product. Don't expect miracles.

Point is, they installed the new London whatever gizmo thing and it has made life not so cool for some people since about a month ago now. They are NOT going to give you the same bandwidth you got a month ago back. I think you need to get used to that and move on if you want to.

I haven't seen many UNSHAPED people moaning??? Anyone UNSHAPED not getting their max speeds? Speak now or forever hold your peace!
 
How exactly does shaping work? Could anyone please explain this to me? Because during the night i get full speed, so is shaping based on under how much load the network is or is it time based?
 
if its a telkom congestion or telkom line issue, then why do our other isp accounts run at max speed ?
come mweb, i dare ya, log into my two virtual pc's and see for your self, the one is on afrihost the other is on mweb, you can even swop the account around...

I have had major problem and I am on the UNSHAPED product.

During the day its like I'm on the cheap and cheerful shaped product.

When I log onto my Telkom account their is no problem and that goes for the open web test account that I was supplied with. Its like chalk and cheese.

Erm, I'm an unshaped account user and I've posted several times on these forums (and in this particular thread) in the last few days complaining about my speeds. Downloads fluctuating between 3KB/s and 15KB/s on a 384K line is unacceptable ....CLEARLY there is a problem which Mweb will not admit too. Either that or the unshaped users are also now being shaped to hell and back which is exactly why I'm cancelling my debit order.
