outage apparently

:e
me thinks the "london shaper" is fubar ;)

It says Cape Town :p

Our networks team applied some updates to traffic profiles at 17h00, we usually do these at 06h00 as the traffic flows take about an hour to settle down afterwards and it can result in some disruption of service while this is happening. The changes made are primarily to address an issue that was picked up on unshaped products, but we are also testing some additional optimizations for shaped products as well. Our networks team are very aware of the issues raised in the thread recently and we are working closely with them to attempt to replicate all of the problems described and assist them in testing any optimizations they feel may be neccesary. It's possible that we will go through this cycle more than once over the course of this week and we will obviously rollback any changes made immediately if we feel they have had a negative impact. Note that these changes are only being made on the Cape Town segment of the network for now, we will deploy the changes to the JHB segment once we are 100% happy with the results.

In CT and my browsing seems fine but p2p is dead as door nails. Hope it gets back to normal soon.

Why is NNTP shaped at 9pm at the same speed it is during office hours? Surely the network load is much less at 9pm as appose to during office hours....Explain? Even if its shaping, why is it being shaped so hard after hours?

Connect & You CAN'T!!! Should be MWEB's slogan!

So, I bought an afrihost account this afternoon to test whether the issue was in fact my telkom line (which is what MWEB tells me is the problem) or whether MWEB is indeed at fault and after about 3 hours of using the Afrihost account I can undoubtedly say MWEB is messing us about. Sure, I didn't get max speeds on Afrihost (I got speeds between 250-300 KB/s) but in comparison to MWEB's sluggish 40-50KB/s speeds, I think it is evident that something is going on at MWEB. I tested http downloads only, but these differences speak volumes.

I've had about enough of MWEB's passing the buck to Telkom and Telkom doing the same... we all pay well above the international average why can't we just get slightly better than average service; it is the SA way after all.

I think I need to troll the forum again to look at other ISP alternatives AGAIN!!!!

26 Minutes to download a 32MB app from the iTunes store.... LOVELY!!!!

Trying to download a software programme called "SonicFire Pro" from their website. Downloading at 15~25KB/s.....max!!!! Im on a business premium 4MB account. What on earth is going on????

speed has been crap all day.my torrent was running nicely at 400kb/s last night and today the whole day i have had a downloading speed of less then 10kb/s while normal downloads go at around 40kb/s max.

i blame mweb shaping.has anyone tried a VPN to see if shaping is at fault?

P2P dead, the whole day already. Same goes for newsservers and filehosts. Not happy, can't even get 5kb/s on a 4Mbit line.

Just cancelled my previous download cause it was just too slow. Now opened up iTunes to update some of my iPhone and iPad apps and they download speed is going between 34KB/s and a max of 100KB/s. This is just simply pathetic!! And no one at MWEB seems to know or fully accept what is really going on. Im in Kimberley so its not just affecting people in JHB and CPT!

Speed & Connectivity Slightly better now.. Yet did get some Funny DNS errors earlier..
