MWEB Uncapped Subscribers Feedback

Despite the problems, I think that for the majority of their customers, Mweb is still the best bang for buck uncapped package in SA (at least for 4meg users). Openweb Gold might give more consistent speeds, but it's also R200 more per month. As much as people might compare uncapped here with other countries (1st or 3rd world), Mweb is still doing the most out of all the big boys in SA to get us close to that ideal (followed closely by OpenWeb). What has Telkom done or IS or WebAfrica?

Yeah for some the service sucks at the moment, but I think most of the frustration comes from the fact that we as consumers have nowhere else to go. It's either Mweb or paying more for OpenWeb. That's it. So much for broadband competition.

Like many others I will be canceling this f@rt service sooner than later as it is a broadband disgrace.

No, I don't work for them, but I am just more realistic in my expectations.

Lowering my expectations really isn't a good business moto. Is Mweb really this bad? Never mind has any of these concerns that has been raised been fixed? Have they stayed fixed?

Mweb Guy or Will,

I phoned yesterday to cancel my account and was told I'd get a call back as they were very busy at the time. I still have not received the call back. Is there an alternative way to cancel?

So, what is your expectations of a 384 uncapped, shaped account? I agreed with Mweb that 70GB isn't bad.

Hi Ahmed

Please let me know if there is anything I can do to retain you as a MWEB client?

I'm not at home. I just got home to hear my brother complain about the internet. The reason I stayed with MWEB last year, even though you guys had those issues after the first seacom break break was because for the most part you guys kept working when everyone else didn't.

I hope you guys come right. I've already sent through my cancellation though. I keep harping about Open Gold, time to put my money where my mouth is.

Seems to me the extra R200.00 is worth the cost of getting rid of the now new Mweb broadband scam. It's really an disgrace that we have to pay so much for a 4M line service but most of the times get 384k performance if any at all.

I have asked the same question many times on this forum. I have yet to hear of anyone having an issue permanently fixed or having an issue resolved by these forum fairies. It's a damn PR stunt to keep a few people quiet

Sillicur you are continuallly expressing your discontent with the shaped nature of your product, however according to my records you have managed to download 70GB this month - that's not a bad haul for R219-00 wouldn't you say?

So what is your expectation then for a 4M line account, according to you I must be happy with 95GB for my half a ton I pay every month. It seems to me that you are just playing for time with these answers and so called solutions as nothing seems to be improving. It's going from bad to worse. I at least manged to download one P2P movie this month, the first in a long time, I mostly play KZ3 on PSN with a lag of course. Webpages are slow and times out many times, HTTP downloads are a disgrace as compared what it used to be.

For R200.00 more it seems to be worth the extra money to go OpenWeb to get rid of this disgrace of a service you call uncapped "broadband".

What is the notice period on MWEB, Do I have to cancel on the 25th and then wait a month ?

You need to give 1 calendar month's written notice (i.e. email or fax ). Do it today ot it will be too late and you'll be billed an extra month for a "servicve" you don't want.
The new consumer protection act says you can give 20 days notice at any time but don't expect these guys to be aware of it.

I just had a very long conversation with Will over the phone. Hopefully we can sort something out and will be doing some more tests to get to the root of my issue. I just want to say thanks for phoning me. After I spoke to Will it feels different, because you actually hear a voice at the other end and it does feel much more human and personal. A bit of ranting aside. Lets see what happens, I still have some hope that it will get better.

well my stuff is fixed since i worked with them and gave them all the specifics etc
speaking of http and streaming here :)

He wants one more month out of you. I had the same conversation and Mweb did absolutely nothing to change the situation. The same type of complaints are here after more than a year.

Hmmm, so a week ago I was going to cancel my mweb account. Got a call from mweb cancellations and the lady offered to give me June free with mweb to see if the problems get sorted or not. However I just got my bill and they are still charging me for the month?

still waiting for billing department to get to me on a refund / compensation, i only started to really use the service since it was fixed last week friday
