youtube stutters badly on my new mweb uncapped account :(

MOrning ShodanZA

Your usage thus far this morning is up to 11gig already and its 10:30 Am, your usage for yesterday was at 22gig for the day. Are you running any downloads while testing the download speeds of AVG?

I was not complaining about usage before 9am I only said there was problem after 9am with you just admitting that I am being throttled on HTTP.
The 22GB from yesterday was a combination of lots of 720P youtube and legit HTTP downloads so I dont understand the reason for giving my usage???

And it is also no secret here that the network operates at full speed after 1am in the morning which means we have to keep our PC's up and running during the night to get our HTTP downloads which is suppose to be a priority port?

Please contact me I will send you my details just now....

ShodanZA, I would like to verify if you were running any downloads while downloading AVG?

Also the reason for the usage report is due to the speed complaint, looking at your usage; your speeds are not that bad on average. As per previous discussions in this thread, it also depends where the HTTP is being pulled from (not referring to AVG here).

Morning Hxx, are you only having an issue with YouTube buffering? Please also PM me your MWEB account details.

Kind regards, MWEB Guy

Wasn't downloading anything else when downloading the AVG file as I dont download after 9am in the morning as I find it pointless.
Its still updating now for the last I think 30mins on a 90mb update file which is now at 47mb.

It's not working for me tho, I am always up at that time and cannot say the same. Last night my experience was just utter rubbish.

22 Gig in a day is not bad...

I do about 8 gig day, and the majority of that is during the golden period between 1am to 8am..

Single-thread YouTube/video streaming anywhere is painfully slow :/ Have to download it manually and in multiple threads to get it to download at linespeed. There goes my habit of streaming 1080p vids, considering it buffers like hell even on 320/240 :o

Hi everyone Mweb guy has confirmed that my line has not been upgraded from 512kb to 1mb but they are in the process with upgrades and hope to have it done by tomorrow I'll keep you updated of what happens

Can anyone tell me - If I use google DNS 8.8.8.8 instead of Mweb own DNS - will it make my browsing experience better or worse?

They wi9ll use their Client Access Server to override it .... you're screwed

hi kenny
i use both,
but 8.8.8.8 as my primary, we had to update a clients dns settings last night through godaddy, mweb and afrihost both took about 15 minutes to update the new dns addresses etc, but 8.8.8.8 was instant.
using google dns as your main, might be +-400ms slower in resolving hosts, but i dont mind that
