I sent a PM to MWEB Guy earlier this evening regarding the dramatic and prolonged drop in HTTP download speeds I've been experiencing. I've received a reply, which directed me to this earlier post by Will. I guess that's the official response regarding any queries relating to slow download speeds

Right, I'm in. In response to your post above, let me direct you to Will's previous statement located here ... :)

So exactly what does this post by will say, there is a problem? Are they gonna do anything about it?

Must say I haven't had any problems with MWEB at all, I'm downloading at stable speeds, accessing sites fast with no problems. Looks like many people on the 1mb line doesn't have much problems

Me too....?

I linked to it in my post. One instance of the word "this" in my post is a hyperlink. It will appear in a different colour or with some different formatting. While your mouse pointer is positioned over that word in my original post (or your quote of my post), press the left mouse button once and then release it. This action will activate the hyperlink, resulting in the hyperlinked page loading. The text of Will's post will then appear.

Something is broken. I cannot connect to some of my usual sites. They just time out. Swicthing to another ISP solves the problem

So what exactly is the problem since yesterday afternoon regarding P2P Astraweb etc?
Are MWEB doing this on purpose or is there a Seacom or some other network related problem?
Past few weeks p2p has been flying full speed, not nothing!

to all the guys who upgraded to 6mb/s line and higher:

have any of you had issues with connectivity?
im on 4mb uncapped account, i recently had an upgrade from 4mb to 6mb and initially there were no issues but in the last 2 days i have to restart my modem a few times cos i lost my connection, i didn't need to do that before.

i thought the whole point of me getting only 6mb/s was to have a stable line....
might have to go back to my trustworthy 4mb line in the end.

please post our modem stats, can be find on the router under modem stats, depending on the modem.

looks like this.
Bandwidth Down/Up(kbps) 6144 / 635
SNR Margin Down/Up(dB) 17.9 / 13.5
Attenuation Down/Up(dB) 38.0 / 20.9

I find it strange that they are keeping all of us in the dark. Now there are apparently Telkom upgrades in the mix?

WTF is going on?

here they are:

speed: 6144 / 640

line attenuation: 43.5 / 20.0

noise: 9.0 / 12

thanks.

your noise is to low you need try have it above 12, so either you have old router or line quality is just not good enough, plugging the router directly in without a filter can help.
