MWEB Uncapped Subscribers Feedback

Anyone else got torent speeds that are going at 5kb/s?

Mine were flying during the day at 350+ kb/s.

At the same time i started having problems logging onto wow my torrent speeds died.
 
My torrent speeds are non-existant.

Getting 0.01 kb/s down and 0kb/s up.

If i switch to my telkom account it got full taps.

This is more than shaping this is like being capped on torrents.
 
My torrents go from 300Kb/s to like 13Kb/s depending on the peers. But the file sharing speeds are still awesome, got like 400Kb/s the other night on Mediafire

Had a very good weekend .. my astraweb speeds were good, especially yesterday.

On saturday, astraweb struggled to connect, however mweb news picked up the slack and the speeds remained good.

I have not had such good speeds in a long time.

Concur, Video streams, NNTP and general browsing was very good this weekend, hoping it stays this way :)
 
everything good here.ping is a bit high at 160ms on mweb bfbc2 servers but downloads and torrents are flying.consider me a happy customer again :)
 
Gaming didnt suffer for me.. Well not on Xbox Live or PSN. Even downloaded all my "Welcome back" games in less then a day thanks to Mwebs SUPER awesome service! Now its just to download the other two free games from another account ;)

Why can I not download from an international news server during the day, but MWEB news is flying? If it's NNTP shaping shouldn't both be affected in the same way?

I don't understand the logic behind this.

I can simplify it for you so you can understand it: MWEB news is local on MWEB's network, and it also cache stuff, so that if a 2nd person download it, MWEB saves on the upstream traffic.

Does that help you understand the logic behind that?
 
This weekend illustrates why I don't throw my toys about P2P much during the week; all in all I completed by Sick Beard backlog queue via NNTP and (few) torrents. Bar an hour hump in the road on Saturday my speeds were cruising at full tilt. It's really not about your usage patterns; full speed on weekends, every weekend. End of.

Apparently there were some gaming issues? Other than that weekend internet fantastic, MWEB. Now; how's about we at mybb work on whats an acceptable download rate for P2P/NNTP/One-Click during 'peak' times? Might I propose 25% of line speed for 'unpopular' protocols?

Mweb news which is classed as p2p which has a low priority on the network, however according to mweb.. the mweb news server has a higher priority in this class. so it should be a bit faster than the international stuff

mweb will kick you on the belt buckle and talk circles around your issues if you do above 20gb a day on the uncapped free the web account, and flag that uncapped free the web account
they will also suggest an unshaped account, i don't see how doing more than 20gb a day on a shaped is abuse vs more than 20gb on unshaped isnt abuse... (they both share the same AUP)

nb , not my account though, mine is still flying ,doing less than 60gb a month

but, dont think you should go ahead and buy 5 games (average of 8gb each) on steam and download them over weekend, you might get flagged as an abuser :(



* edit, personally i think 600gb for R550 is still way good value for money in our markets, but then it shouldn't be labeled as uncapped and you get scolded if you cross the imaginary line, or atleast give the info somewhere...

anybody experiencing slow HTTP speeds today? I can't even access the Speedtest.net to see what speed i'm getting. Youtube is a dead stick.
I'm on Uncapped 4096 in Gauteng.

I finally got Speedtest.net to work. but it got stuck halfway measuring 0.20 bits per second with a ping of 19 to the jhb server. I've got a 4MB line...what is up with this?
