Dear MWEB Guy - still waiting for a response from my ticket/call with your engineer. I have given up on surfing the web and will cancel my month-2-month. Needless to say I will make use of the CPA as the product you advertise is not a broadband product and not fit for purpose - as such I will also claim back any funds spent.

Yes - the above is right - over the last 24 hours, my throughput peaked at 60KB/sec and currently trickles in at 9-12KB/sec (all HTTP traffic). It is pointless to use SSH/FTP to do any work, as sessions just time out.

Code:
$ ping mweb.co.za

Hi demon,

I have refreshed your MWEB account. Please test in the next 20min if anything changed.

Kind regards,

MWEB Guy

Http is crawling.. not even http://www.mweb.co.za/helpcentre/MWEBSpeedTest.aspx loads..

Speed WAS decent this weekend.. then about 2pm today.. like a flick of a switch back to week day speeds.

Edit: download a email attachment from live mail.. no higher than 3kb on a 4mb line :(

Hi KoKaRoT,

I have refreshed your MWEB account, please power down your router for 20min and test.

Have you tried clearing your browser temporary internet files and cookies?

Kind regards,

MWEB Guy

900 pages. 10% of those must be compliments? If? Last couple of months = hell for 4mb users.

nope, still the same.

Why is it so difficult to confirm this as a problem? I have had a case open for almost 2 weeks now, I am available every night for an engineer to contact me to do troubleshooting, but I have had only 1 contact with an Mweb representative. I have also received multiple SMS's stating that you are still working on the problem, and a lady called me to say the same. That is all.

I don't understand how you are working on the problem for this long without any contact to myself. I am in the support industry myself, and I do not understand how your processes are working - they are either completely broken, or you are deliberately avoiding addressing the issue.

EDIT: OK, seems like I have posted to soon - practically just as I hit the reply button on the above, the streaming picked up again. Not sure what to make of it, if indeed you resetting my account made a difference then thank you Mweb guy. I must have been mistaken, in that this is not the problem that I have been experiencing up until now.

touch wood, of course.

Browsing/streaming/dls/gaming have gone for a ball of Sh*t this last week...guess last weeks decent(not great just bearable)was just a patch over a problem that's not gonna disappear anytime soon.

*edit* Added Speed test...
Test conducted on 19 June 2011 09:00:16 PM
Download Speed: 193 kbps (24.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 285 kbps (35.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 208 ms

Hi Snorkey,

I have refreshed your MWEB account and have taken off protected access. It will open more ports to your connection and at the same time making it vulnerable to hacking. Please make sure your anti-virus is up to date.

You can always turn it back on via My account in the ADSL TAB.

Kind regards,

MWEB Guy

Just a quick question: Why when i do a speed test via Mweb JHb.. the results drop each time.

When you reset my accout and i reconnected it was at 3.5mbps, now its 1.9mbps +- 20min later.

Just bizarre Mwebguy.

But thanks for all your effort so far, much appreciated.

nope, broken again.

just as I thought.

Can't even stream 240p from justin.tv. Means I am missing out on the round of 16 from Dreamhack. Thanks Mweb!

Just to reiterate that this problem is not related to my connection at all, in that at the same time that I struggle to achieve 100KBps from Justin.tv, I can quite comfortably download at 150KBps+ from sites like fileserv.com and rapidshare.com.

Yeah I'm still in the same boat, I've lost out on most of Dreamhack because of this problem, just like MLG and GSL, which is really... really disappointing... And Champions Online is still unplayable due to the ridiculous amount of lag I'm getting, I can't move, I'm just warping all over the place then back to square 1.

I was lucky to be able to stream some of Dreamhack at 360p and it would be fine for quite a while, then I thought "Oh... cool.. so it must be sorted since I'm not getting any buffer issues"
I bump up the quality to 480p, buffers every few seconds, switch back to 360p, now that starts to buffer every few seconds, then I'm forced to watch on the lowest quality, 240p, and even then
it sometimes buffers. (note: I have tried different streams, they were all terrible)

I'm also running dog slow this evening. Local and international http traffic is almost unusable. I'm interested in this protected access - how does it affect line speed?

Mweb Guy, please PM me if you can help out with a reset, etc?

Nick

Pretty much the same experience for me, nerhzelok. Its so cruel - just as you settle in to watch a match and think "yay, its working!", it starts buffering like crazy. its absolutely ridiculous that on a 4mbps connection to struggle to achieve even 150KBps.

I at one stage did think Justin.tv might not have enough bandwidth, but for this last game there was 80000+ other people watching the stream and I did not see any complaints on buffering or lag in the chat window, so its extremely unlikely that its a problem from their side.

I have pretty much made up my mind, I will be canceling my mweb account tomorrow and will be getting an openweb gold account.
