Just normal browsing (local + int), it's working now, but was up and down for the last two hours or so.

So slow it would take minutes to load a page.

Seems okay now, will keep you updated.

Died again, now I'm back.

This is very erratic.

Perhaps it's my line? Who knows?

Take note of the payment part and ignore abuse notice

Dear Yuu

Thank you for your e-mail.

We thank you for the payment made.

The account had been cancelled due to 'Network Abuse'.

The usage pattern had not suited your Shaped ADSL.

If you require any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact us.

Kind regards

So they cancel my account which is fine as i did go against the T & C's but this payment went through for July and all they say is a THANK YOU lmao, a whole new level of low MWEB

For a long story short, i could not access my MWEB email since Nov last year so i never saw the abuse email (i probably would have ignored it) but i certainly would have stopped payment had i known i was going to be cancelled.

I was told the money will be payed back in 2 weeks but this was a PM from the forum and above email is more recent so who do i believe O_O?

Edit: Another ? is does Mweb take back customers who want to continue using the service after they have been cancelled,? Whether or not they continue their abuse remains to be seen (anyone can say yes i will stop). If you take back clients then enable my service again atleast so i can cancel it end of the month atleast :/ please :p

checked out my connection a bit and i'm capped at 30kb/s.if i download something it's capped and 30kb/s and i can't browse because it's so slow.

On the other hand, when I read comments like the one I've quoted, I tend to even more annoyed...
You're telling me that when you read the post I responded to / quoted, you weren't somehow perturbed ? "Do i forward the bill for having to buy a prepaid account yet again to [email protected]? or can we work together and fix this issue?"? It's shaped -> network prone to more strain/sharing, and that's what was agreed upon... so forgive me for clarifying what should have been obvious ?

Why are you posting here just to argue with individual users? I know you are trolling and its fun, maybe you even feel smart or special. I do however want to ask you to kindly either leave ppl having issues alone. Ask your mother to give you attention so you can leave us alone.

Not at all, I corrected an important mistake that seems to be recurring here pretty frequently, and I'm tired of reading the stupidity while wanting to follow the rest of the thread in general. If for some mysterious reason you can't handle a healthy dose of facts every once in a while, too bad. My input (unlike yours) was concise, direct, and relevant - thus valid, contrary to your warped ideals. Turns out your rants are just pure redundancy. Ironic, no?

Okay so tell me what you think about this then. A big drop in the performance since a few months ago, for a year it was consistent and then boom, big drop for everyone. Now people complain over and over, maybe use the wrong terms, lol who cares, this is like customer support. Its not a trolling ground for kids like you. Oh yeh, the reason my "rants are just pure redundancy" is because the issues are not getting fixed. IF the issues were fixed I would have no need for "redundant" comments.

So, its not that i cant handle a dose of facts, its the way you do it. Basically what you are doing is coming into a thread where allot of people are upset and your comments come off as defending the party that everyone is upset about, obviously you know that is flamebait? Either that or you are retarded.

Seems like M-Web is getting worse and worse again. Downloading at 20KB/s on HTTP (on a 4Mbit line, at 3:00 in the morning). Pages take very long to load, they time out a lot as well. Can't use Skype.

:(

And this morning everything is a full speed... Mweb is there something weird going on? I love you guys but level with me please.

I think you've summed it up perfectly.

Now if only they'd admit it.

We apply traffic prioritization on a network wide basis, there are no mechanisms in place to throttle customers. The experience you're describing would also be consistent with the traffic on your DSLAM flatlining. Perhaps you should give MWEB Guy your details and request a congestion check?

Will - this started on Sunday.

During the evenings all protocols are fine and run at full speeds. Since Sunday, during the day, things are being capped to around 60-120K on a 4 meg line, with some minor bursts. It has all the hallmarks of active throttling, my cousin in Bryanston (I'm in Sunninghill Gardens) is experiencing the same issue since Sunday. Both of our exchanges cannot surely have congestion issues such as these.

This is not traffic prioritisation.

Hopefully it comes right.

^-------- I concur with this, I seriously doubt its congestion. My one HTTP download will be like 200KB/s then when the next one begins its stuck at like 4-30KB/s, whats going on here??? IS this really congestion or just a problem with the backbone, seems like IPC is like nerving every bodies connections.

A friendly warning Mweb, if you cant supply a new customer the service his paying for, then I'll find a ISP who will. Cant surf, cant stream, can barely game... WTF am I paying for!!!

I agree it's unlikely to be congestion if you both experienced identical problems. The speeds you're getting at any given time are going to be dependent on the type of traffic and the overall load on the network, this is the essence of traffic prioritization, if you'd like to call it shaping, or something else that's fine by me :).

Please remember that it is a contended service, meaning that even though we make every effort to manage the traffic and keep things running smoothly you are sharing the network with other customers and we simply cannot guarantee that you will get 'line speed' on your traffic 24/7. If this is the experience you are after then you need to consider moving to one of our unshaped products which gives an equal priority to all traffic types, including p2p, and operates on lower contention ratios.

I really wish that mweb could despatch techies to fix telkom lines because i'm pretty sure that an mweb techie with a week's training could probably fix the problem on my line that telkom hasn't been able to fix for almost a year now... ugh...

Anyone know exactly how the abuse detector thingymajig works? what the parameters are for abuse?

I understand that its contravention of the AUP by downloading at line speed 24/7, but as NNTP is shaped to death during the day, surely if you ran news downloads 24/7 all month, it shouldnt trigger any abuse as it wasnt running at line speed?

And on a second note, as line speed 24/7 is abuse, would 23/7, or 24/6 be abuse? or is it purely based on patterns and how you use your line?
