Where are you downloading your HTTP from, please also provide me a link to the file you are downloading and I will test the speeds I get on the file as well. Please test your YouTube during the course of the day and keep me abreast of its performance.

Send you a PM.

Like i said not a specific file that I am trying to download its just slow in general.
Youtube I will monitor but no improvement yet.

thanks for the reply mwebguy, and chance of getting a "guideline" figure or something, then i can manage our usage patterns accordingly. so far we can see from recent posts its about below 20gb a day on average ?
1 - dont want to break your rules
2 - im still paying for uncapped and would still like to make as much use of it as possible, but without breaking rules

edit:
and, If i queue something on the mweb news server to download, and it downloads for 3 days straight, but at below 30KB/s on a 4mb account, will this be seen as abuse because the download is running 24/3, but because its speed is impacted by something out of my control, i am forced to let it download for 3 days straight to complete the download.
Is this also abuse from my side even though im only using 10% if my accounts max speed?

I asked some of these questions a while back to [email protected] , but i only received generic replies :P

Hi Mweb Guy. Is the Internet playing up at the moment? Local speed test was going ok 20 min ago now it is bouncing all over the place with pings in the 700ms and download about 1.5MB, International speed test is giving me 200Kbs download and pings around 900ms. The speedtest needle is also bouncing around - 300 - 1.5Mb. Anyone else having problems?

Hi uchoose,

There are no reported outages at the moment. Please can you PM me your MWeb account details as well as speedtest results so that I can look into this further. Please monitor during the course of the day and inform me of any improvements.

Regards,
MWEB Guy

Mweb Guy, my Mediafire downloads always use to download at about 300+KB/s, now its like one would be like 100KB/s and the rest are like 15KB/s (just downloading 3 files at a time after peak time)... Ive barely broke the 60GB barrier so far this month. Could you maybe check into my account to see if the problem lays there?

Hi Wolfy,

When did this start happening? Have you monitored the speeds over a period of days? Please send me a screenshot of the download you are doing so that we can see the speed it is downloading at.

Regards,
MWEB Guy

Well its started from Sunday, even hard reset my router. I'll Upload some screen shots when I get home. Even tried different downloading managers, the first download is always below average (100KB/s) with the rest just staying at 10KB/s the whole time... Real mind boggling I must say, and whats even more weird is my speed test still show the usual results of "3.24Mbps down and 0.40Mbps up" according to mybroadbands speed test results ?

Hi dakhaas

We don't publish a set of guidelines, or specific rules, because we feel that the acceptable usage policy covers the matter adequately and when it comes to abuse warnings this process only applies to a tiny fraction of our client base. As such we would prefer not to have a set of rigid rules in place, such as employed by other ISP's as all this really does is help the abusers to stay off our radar and 'ride the curve' so to speak. You mentioned in an earlier post that if we play fair so will you. I can assure you that we do play extremely fair on this matter and from your point of view if you behave in a reasonable manner you're unlikely to fall foul of the abuse process.

If however your behavior is such that your primary internet usage centers around downloading as much as you can as fast as possible, month after month then you are going to find yourself being asked to move to a more appropriate product.

Hi Wolfy,

I will await your screen shots as this will assist greatly.

Dynamic shaping / throttling / squashed pipe / <insert other term here>

Since Sunday.

I've been monitoring it. It's affecting all downloads, anything that remotely could use the majority of your line speed.

Speed test reports and ping times show everything as normal.

Slow adsl
Hi There. I also have an mweb adsl connection and experiecing very slow internet since Monday. I called MWEB and they said its fine on their side and to call Telkom. I called Telkom and they recreated the port twice and said that its all fine on their side but I still have very slow internet. I have 1mb line but I am getting speeds of less than 50kbs. Really dont know what to do now.

Yeah, tell the guy to get an uncapped account or something.

:p

I guess I will be fine then, my average usage for the whole of last year, with another ISP, was 40GB a month, this being my first month with Mweb I really want to stay within bounds because everything has been great.

yeah my total usage is also below 60gb a month, just dont want to get nailed because i queued a few games on steam today :P
but mwebguy says it will be fine, so im chilled :)

Do mweb shape you know or what. Even my business adsl can't stream youtube videos. Radio stream is even worse

I must be the only person not having a single issue with Mweb, granted this is my first month with them, but I just watched 720P Three Musketeers on YouTube start to finish without a single buffer.

Hi MWEB Guy. It was this morning, at around 7AM, as well as last night, unfortunately I cannot remember the time. Probably around 7 - 8 PM.
I am at work during the day, so I have no idea how it is during the day.

Thanks for the reply

So I just got home. Tried to stream something from YouTube again. No longer 30Kbps. It's about 12-13KBps now :-(

What can we do to fix this MWEB Guy? Please assist

Hi timmie,

Please can you PM me your MWEB account details and I will have a look at your account.

Regards,
MWEB Guy

I just got a new router last month, didn't help at all. I have the exact same issue as you. Switched to an old telkom account a while back and also experienced full line speed...

Thanks :(

MWEB tech have contacted me twice now. No luck. It's been like a few months now.

This product is the most expensive Internet package I have ever had.
This product is the worst Internet experience I have ever had.
I can't get the Internet to work any more.

LOL MwebGuy/Will

Why does Ernest Stripp keep replying with generic copy and paste results, after ive logged tickets, but in the mail i included speedtest results, tracerts, and speed comparissons between mweb and afrihost,
and even telling him other downloads ,game latency, and youtube streaming is running 100% on the mweb account is running fine at 410KB/s,
he still replies with
(he did this in the past as well)

Thank you for taking the time to contact us.

If the problem in question has been present for a long time period and permanent in nature, I suggest that you check the ADSL speed of your connection via the option as found from the website below to get an idea if it is line related:
http://speedtest.neotel.co.za/

If the above yields a much lower speed compared to the ADSL line speed that you rent from Telkom, then I suggest that you contact Telkom ADSL on the number below to check the connection of your local ADSL exchange or to verify that no problems are currently being encountered with that exchange or the line you connect to for line noise, signal loss, noise on the line, attenuation. And ask them to recreate your ADSL port.:0800 375 375

this area needs work, because that will surely make someone with a bit of networking knowledge rage and foam a bit if you receive a reply like that after typing out a whole technical document...
I know its a standard procedure to check the telkom lines etc in a normal case, but i told tech support that the line is fine, it was just a specific download link which was slow and i wanted to know if there was anything which could be done about it...
